Hi, I have a DLP and he doesn't do well with that either. His LCD computer monitor seems to be the best.

Hi Faith, My son developed an eye twitch around the age of 5. The eye twitch went away after we took away ALL the screens for about a month. I did not let him have any screen time until it was gone. Then I introduce it slowly. Then last fall he developed a nose twitch. Again I took all the screens away for about a month and re-introduced them slowly. Then over the summer he again developed the nose twitch (he was allowed to bring electronics to camp . This time I found this site and gave him some of the supplements suggested. I took away the TV, the gameboy but not the computer. The computer has an LCD screen which is supposed to be okay. I hope this helps. Jane

Hi there, I give my 8 year old son, who is 55-60lbs, 500mg per day split into 2 doses.

Hi there, Magnesium Taurine helped my son with his throat clearing tic. You can also try Natural Calm, that helped him as well. Good luck!

My son is also 8 and can't swallow pills. This is what I do; I buy vitamins in capsule form (clear gel cap that you can open). I open them all up and add them to some juice. I shake it up really well until it's mostly dissolved. Then he drinks it with a really large straw. I divide them up and give some in the morning and some at night. I also give him Omega-3-6-9, which is in a liquid form. I buy all my supplies at the Vitamin Shoppe. Let me know if I can answer any more questions. Jane

Hi, I just wanted you to know that my son's tics returned this summer after going on vacation on an airplane. This is something he was very scared and nervous about. For my son, I think stress and being nervous brings on the tic, and then electronics makes it worse. I know how you feel. I also can't understand why this had to happen to us. It took me 7 years to get pregnant with my son and he is the center of my universe. I just can't understand why this had to happen to us. I try to be a good person and do good in the world and often feel punished. Take care, Jane

Hi again, I'm giving him magnesium taurate/calcium/zinc and also flax seed oil with omega 3,6,9 and some evening primrose oil. I think it took a couple of weeks to see a difference. But I must say that electronics are his main trigger. I'm not sure if the supplements made a difference or the reduction in screen time, or both. It's really hard to keep him away from this stuff, since he LOVES this stuff. I also try hard not to watch him, but he's my only child and it took me 7 years to have him. All my attention is focused on him. Oh, I also found baths with Epsom salt very helpful. Take care, Janey

Hi, my son is 8 1/2 now and he started with eye blinking around 5. TV/video games is his main trigger. I had to take it all away from him to have the eye blinking go away. This summer he started with a nose twitch. Again it was brought on by stress and the TV watching/Ninetendo makes it even worse. I made him give up the TV/Nintendo all together and he is now only allowed to play on the computer. The computer screen is an LCD which for some reason does not trigger the tics. In addition I've been giving him some of the supplements recommended on the board. I know it's tough, but your best bet is to take the electronics away for a week. I bet you will see a great improvement. If you've ever read the warning that comes along with the Nintendo, it does say that it may cause seizures in some people. If it can cause seizures, I definitely think it can cause tics. If you read thru this forum, which is great, you will see many people mention electronics as a main trigger for their child's tics. Let me know if you have any more questions!! Jane

Hi All, I've found this Homeopathic product on Nativeremedies.com that claims to help with tics. I've seen others mention it thru my web research. I was wondering if anyone has tried it. If not, do you think I can use this in conjunction with the cal/mag/zinc and other supplements that I give already???? Any opinion would be appreciated. I e-mailed the company and they told me that this is targeted for children with ADD, but numerous children have shown improvement in the reduction of tics. Here is the link to it:http://www.nativeremedies.com/products/brightspark-child-concentration-info.html

Thanks for your input Pat, The woman I found said that she's been doing it for ten years, and deals with children and nervous issues. I'm going at the end of August. I'm hoping it will help him with his nervousness as well as the tics.

Thanks for the input. I figured it can't hurt. She's charginig $30 a session, so it's worth a try.

Hi all, I found a therapist in my area who does cranial sacral and reiki. I made an appointment with her for my son. I was just wondering if anyone has done this and if so, did you feel that you child benefited from it? She said that it would take at least 3 treatments at half an hour each before I see results. I just want to get some feedback before going. Thank you Jane

Thank you so much!!!!!!!

Hi again, My cal/mag/zinc is all seperate, I just give it together. I'm just trying to figure out what's best. It seemed like he was doing better for about a week, then the last couple of days he went back to his twitching. I found some research on Ignatia while searching Homeopathic options. I think I'll try that next.

Hi, I had also noticed an increase in tics when I started my son on C. I don't know if I gave too much (250mg), but I decided to stop giving the extra C.

Hi everyone, I was wondering if someone could tell me the best time to give the vitamin supplements to my son. I've been doing research, and some recommend giving with food, some before meals and some after meals. Does it make a difference? I'm currently giving the cal/mag/zinc and vitamin B complex and grape seed extract. Thanks in advance for your help!!!! Jane

Hi Pat, Could you please tell me where you buy your magnesium cream. I can't seem to find it anywhere. Thank you

Hi Faith, I just tried Inositol powder with my son in addition to all the other supplements, and after about a week I noticed that he's much less moody and agreeable. I'm not sure if it's just a coincidence, but for now I'm going to keep it in his regime. Jane

Hi Faith, Thanks for the advice. I'll look into the supplements you recommended. Yesterday we went to a county fair, and there was a display there of various live large birds, such as owls and eagles. He got extremely upset over the fact that the birds were tied down. He loves animals and is extremely sensitive to animals, and people alike. He wears his feelings on his sleeve, and it's very hard. On the one hand I love the fact that he cares so much about everyone, and on the other, I wish he could be more like the rest of the boys his age who just seem to let everything roll off their shoulders. Thanks for listening. Jane

Hi Faith, Sorry I haven't responded in a couple of days. My son has and under bite, and had a palate expander put in on Friday. I've been dealing with that too. He hardly ate before the expander, and now it's even harder to get anything into him. My stress level has hit its peak. The first tic he had was when he was around 5 years old. It started with eye blinking. I mean it was constant, almost scary to watch. I cried every night. At that time he was going to a baby sitter. I realized that the tic was worse when he went there, then it was on the weekend. I also noticed that the eye bilking was particularly severe after watching television. I completely cut the TV out. I realized that he was under a lot of stress there even though he loved the sitter. The sitter had two kids of her own who where "rowdy" at best. There was a lot of screaming and fighting between the siblings. He is bothered by loud noises, and I think the stress of those two kids going at it all day didn't help things. I took a leave of absence from work and stayed home with him for a month. The eye blinking went away without the use of supplements of any kind. Just removing him from the situation did the trick. There were no tics present until he started kindergarten. Then he developed a very loud throat clearing tic. Since I knew I couldn't pull him out of school I let it go. The vocal tic wasn't as upsetting to me as the facial tic. The next tic occurred last year in the second grade. I work full time so he attends after care. One day there was only half a day of school so that meant that he was in after care longer than usual. I explained to him that he would be in after care longer than usual, but that I was still going to pick him up at our usual time. When I got to after care, he was a complete wreck. He was standing by the window waiting for me and crying. He thought that something happened to me (we are very close). He was inconsolable when I got there. I had never seen him this upset. The very next day he started with the nose twitching. It's almost like he flares his nostrils and his face grimaced. Again I didn't know anything about supplement at that time. I knew that taking electronics away had helped in the past, so that is what I did. The tics went away in a couple of months. This July we went on vacation. He gets nervous about flying, and sure enough the nose tic came back again. So that is where we are today. I found this site, and am trying the cal/mag/zinc, the Omega 3,6,9 and some of the other things recommended. Again, I cut out the TV, and game boy but I'm allowing some computer since he seems to do okay with it. I think it has to do with the type of monitor he has. I think I see a small improvements. I've been giving him the supplement for about two weeks now. Sorry for the long message. It's hard to explain it all. Thanks for listening, Jane

Hi, I was just wondering if anyone has advise to help my 8-year-old son who predominantly has two main triggers......TV/computer games and stress. I have eliminated the TV/compute games, but can't control the "stress". Every time he has a bad day at school or camp it seems to bring on his tics. I know I can't isolate him in a bubble, but he is extremely sensitive and worries about everything. Does any one else have this with their child, and if so, how do you control his stress level, if it's out of your control??? He'll be starting third grade this year and I'm afraid there will be even more stress this year. I'm very worried. I really appreciate everyone's input. Jane

Dear Chemar, Thanks for your reply again. I'm having trouble finding ONE product that would contain all the ingredients. Currently he's taking Natural Calm. Is it okay to buy the Taurine and add it to the drink? Is there a manufacturer that makes an all inclusive product? I know that Bonnie's products have that, but I just don't know how I can give him all those pills. I was hoping to make my own concoction that would work for him. Thank you again for all your input.
