  1. Thank you for posting that video! I have sent it to a few friends and family members. Will also post on facebook. And, may actually forward to some local doctors! I think sending this information to DOCTORS is going to be a our key. I am going to start bombarding our therapists and doctors with information and studies. We have no one else working on our behalf, we need to do the educating!
  2. these are great ideas. Do you know of any links that would help get us on track?
  3. Same!! I think we are probably close enough to try to get together at some point!
  4. I have been struggling with the EXACT same thing. We do not have a pediatrician...
  5. LLM, we posted around te same time. Looks like we are on the same page. I had not even looked into the abx interaction - probably would not have thought of it! Thanks.
  6. Oh and with the calcium thing, then they recommend plenty of vitamin c to help the body get rid of excess calcium...it's quite involved. Sucks that it's so compacted because magnesium is needed for literally almost every body function, one of the most important minerals for us. I have taken to supplementing naturally with the occasional teaspoon of powdered magnesium citrate in smoothies etc. Green leafy veggies are high in magnesium, so is chocolate. We have green smoothies almost everyday. I'm in a lull right now haven't made them for two days and strangely my son came down last night and inquired about whether I was making them or not. They are delicious and once you get your kids hooked on them they don't Ben realize its something healthy and it's an easy way to toss in fish oils and other sneaky things.
  7. I've done a lot of reading on this and what I found is that most of the population is or is thought to be deficient in magnesium and it's very difficult to test for. Most blood tests will come back normal because they do not detect the total magnesium levels in the bones and intracellularly where it's actually deficient an needed. The thing with magnesium is that it needs calcium to work properly. For most people this is not an issue, with calcium added to all our foods, even bread, etc. most people have excess calcium levels. However, I suppose long term supplementation of magnesium could cause a calcium deficiency at some point. The other thing is that most oral forms magnesium are not easily absorbed by the body -- and to date I still haven't seen experts agree on what type is best. Also, worth noting is that some forms of oral magnesium can cause diarrhea in some people especially if you dose too high or too much too soon. And, I have seen some sites that noted that because of the benefits of magesium and how important it is in the body and it's impact depletion can have on physical and mental health, it is possible that supplementing -- if properly absorbed - could cause less need for supplements or psychotropics meds. So, it is a careful balancing act I think....
  8. To that, I say "Conversion disorder is PooPoo!"
  9. When is your appt? And, can I just say out loud I'm very happy to hear him suggest ibuprofen? We are in the same boat right now!
  10. Sometimes I wish I could vacuum them up. They are SO bad. BAD, BAD, cats. They open doors, steal from cabinets...naughty little things.
  11. Uggh, I hope it's something that goes away easily. I've been battling scaly rash crap my whole life. Eczema, psoriasis, whatever they want to call it...steroid creams, nizoral, etc...it all works while I'm using it but comes right back. Don't like to use steroid creams long term for obvious reasons and it can thin your skin I've read. So frustrating. I do think there may be a fungal/yeast connection though because it responds to nizoral shampoo (like I can wash my face with it for a day or two and it clears right up). If that's the case with your DD, it would make sense that you saw a flare with the diflucan - perhaps it was surfacing due to the diflucan dose?
  12. Oh, so then everyone here should have this result in their lab work! I just noticed my last two lab results both had elevated WBC which I know indicate infection. I have chronic sinus infections and inflammation with my endo...so I guess that could explain that, too. The lack of antibodies thing is weird though, no? and, I swear those damn vaccines (the ones the school made me get again, when my titers came back like crap) make me more sick than ever.
  13. yeah, 'cause the cat is not contaminated! Yay kitty! LOL. How can I decontaminate our kitties, I wonder?
  14. Okay, let me preface by saying I don't even know what a statin is....and I wasn't searching for it. I did a searched for azith and increased cholesterol and found this link: http://www.livestrong.com/article/62780-statin-dangers/ At the bottom it says something about medication interactions and mentions statins and azith. Just thought I'd post in case it helped anyone.
  15. That article was very helpful! Thank you. And, thanks for reversing the roles and pointing out that your son could care less if his shirt was dirty or had cat fur on it. That greatly helped me put into perspective that it can be just very selective things and not a generalized condition. His father has/had many OCD tendancies, many of which had to do with cleaning and specifically laundry -- interesting with my son's issue with clothes. It's weird how sometimes "thinking outloud" or on a forum -- in this case, can make light bulbs go off.
  16. Still waiting on Dr. B's blood work and Lyme test results for son and I, but now that I am delving into all of this. I have noticed a few things on my own labs over the last year that seem consistent. First, when I had my titers drawn to show immunity when enrolling back in school in the fall, I came back Negative - No IgG antibodies specific to: Rubella, Measle, Varicella Zoster (which is crazy because I had the chicken pox in my 20's and it was awful), Mumps. How can this be? How can I have had a ton of vaccinations over the years, have a child exposed to all kinds of crap, have had chicken pox in adulthood and not have IgG antibodies to anything? And, lastly, what does it mean if my Neutrophils are consistently flagged in the high range, but Lymphocytes are low? I am having a very hard time understanding the antibodies thing in particular.
  17. Very good point! Is it possible for it to be contamination issues but not be with other things? Like he could care less about plates or cups, or his toothbrush that he just chucks on the bathroom counter, etc. But his clothes and his room seem off limits. Generally, is very tidy WITH HIS ROOM only --he will step over a wrapper on the floor or leave his crap all over the house, but his room is set up how he wants. Though in the midst of the worst exacerbations his room will become a disorganized mess. Papers all over, backpacks dumped out, clothes everywhere. Like he goes from hyper organized and very specific about every little detail to complete pig. Hmm, sort of makes sense I guess, because this is when he won't be able to focus on homework, do math, remember things, etc. so maybe everything becomes a big "mess" at these times?
  18. Okay, then in my experience it doesn't sound like fungus/yeast issue. More like pigmentation. Maybe this will help? Looks like autoimmune illness and hormones are known to do this... http://www.formulamedical.com/Topics/Symptoms/skin,%20darkened.htm
  19. This is interesting, because I thought that "liver" spots were not really related to the liver at all and were considered more with age or sun exposure?
  20. Hmm, maybe. Several times a week before school he will notice something on his shirt or pants that makes him so upset he will go upstairs and change. Then he gets worked up about all his clothes being dirty. Now, they don't seem dirty to me. He even accused my washing machine of being broken and not cleaning his clothes right. I told him my clothes were coming out clean so that didn't seem likely. Though, if he's worried about them getting dirty, wouldn't he stop tossing them onto the floor? I don't get it.
  21. too funny you should say that, I took a sharpie and wrote our names on each and even on the caps! lol
  22. Great info. thanks. My son and I are at the doc for sinus infections several times a year. Seems they never clear up. Dr. B. is suspicious of strep in our sinuses. Our sinuses have never been swabbed, thought it might be interesting to check?
  23. I wondered about liver spots, too. I have a brown patch on the bridge of my nose that has popped up in the last few years and makes me crazy. Though, I'm not sure you'd have 3 of them of decent size show up on your face so suddenly. Mine seemed to come on rather gradually and get darker over time. Dcmom, Can you clarify if these patches are red, or brown? Are they raised at all? Are they peeling or scaly?
  24. Yes, I think there is an element of OCD to this. Not sure if the OCD causes the anxiety or vice versa. For instance, last night I brought up his laundry. He was on his computer and his clothes are easy (mostly hooded sweatshirts and the like) so while he was sitting 2 feet from his closet door I offered to hang them up for him (because if it doesn't get done right away his clean clothes get tossed on the floor, and then he complains that they will have fur on them, or whatever and has a mental breakdown when getting dressed in the morning -- you'd think he'd make the connection to not toss clothes on the floor and this won't happen, but he hasn't). Anyway, he freaked out and was NO, I don't want you touching my stuff. I'll do it. So, I again asked him to do it now so I could put the laundry basket away and so the clothes wouldn't get tossed on the floor -- he was not upset I was asking him to do it now -- but rather over the fact that I was going to dare touch his closet. He gave a little resistance to put the clothes away at that moment, but as soon as I hung up one sweat shirt he jumped up and took everything out of my hands and told me to get away and he would do it himself. This to me seems like OCD, but of what? -- he's not hiding anything in the closet, there is nothing I am going to see. There is no special way he is organizing his clothes, that I am doing wrong, yet, he seems to have a MAJOR, MAJOR aversion to me touching simply hanging up a few sweatshirts for him. Why? What would make him react this way? It's bizarre. I can't put my finger on the underlying "threat".
