MamaOnAMission replied to MamaOnAMission's topic in PANS / PANDAS (Lyme included)
Do you think it's die off. She said it feels like cement up her nose -
she has had a perpetually stuffy nose since starting bactrim and doryx. anyone have this?

Do Bactrim and Doryx work for PANDAS?
MamaOnAMission posted a topic in PANS / PANDAS (Lyme included)
my girl is doing better on this combination of Abx. I really don't know if it's lyme or PANDAS with this child but the combination of abx. seem to work best. Does anyone know if either bactrim or doryx are ever used for PANDAS? thanks so much. -
My girl is tolerating the bactrim/doryx combination and i see a bit of improvement after being on full dose for 3 weeks. Will there be more improvement after awhile ? I needed to add some abilify for severe racing thoughts and confusion though, which helped but now she is "stuck" on one thought and we can't stop her. I think it's OCD, instead of racing thoughts and confusion. Man! this is what she it taking thus far: 12.5mg. Lamictal 1-Bactrim 1 1/2 Abilify 1 -Bactrim 1-Doryx 3mg seroquel Not sure what would help this one "persisitent thought" thing- adding probiotic, adding prozac, upping ability??? What would you guys do next?

Can't afford doryx/ have you tried generic?
MamaOnAMission replied to MamaOnAMission's topic in PANS / PANDAS (Lyme included)
doctor put her on the doryx instead of doxy. i thought because of her age. or perhaps the sun during the summer. -
Abilify for racing thoughts or confusion
MamaOnAMission replied to MamaOnAMission's topic in PANS / PANDAS (Lyme included)
I am sorry mom cap. It is so tough. Day by day, right? My girl was stable on the doryx, bactrim and ability but now confusion in setting in and severe OCD. I upped the abilify to 1.5mg. and she seems worse. Ugh. The doctor said nothing about checking heart or glucose levels. Worries me. Keep me posted. -
It could have been me that posted about fever/flulike symptoms every month. I had miracolous results on doxy too. Stayed on the stuff for 2 months and got bad again. Back on doxy and got good. Then stopped after awhile now bad again. This time on doxy does not seem to b working. Flulike symptoms r not going away. I'm really nauseous on the doxy this time too and flulike symptoms r not going away. I feel aweful which stinks because I have to take care of two sick family memberes!

Abilify for racing thoughts or confusion
MamaOnAMission replied to MamaOnAMission's topic in PANS / PANDAS (Lyme included)
How quickly did you go up on the abliliy? I have her at 1mg. and I have read that you keep her there for 2 weeks b4 moving up. What did you do? Thanks so much. -
Yes it's quite amazing. I feel like I found her after she was abducted for years. Keep you posted! Thanks!!!!

My child is on Bactrim and Doryx. She has started to communicate. She seems to be sleeping better. Much less aggressive!!! She is so beautiful, creative and funny and sick, but I feel hopeful!!!! I also have her on ability. I am hoping it helps with her being afraid of everything. Perhaps when the confusion and racing thoughts get better she will be less afraid. I know I would be afraid too to try anything if I could not think straight. She is such a trooper, she never gives up. Keeps trying new things, but can't stick with them, but she tries them!!! Thanks for everyones help. It was/is a crazy out of control ride over here!!!

Bart/Lyme treatments. A little success!
MamaOnAMission replied to MamaOnAMission's topic in PANS / PANDAS (Lyme included)
That's interesting about the "copying" thing. She won't stop saying it to friends. I don't think its OCD. I think it's confusion. I am going to try some abilify at some point to see if it helps. -
She is on the doryx/bactrim combo. Full dose, and I see some progress. Amazing! Keeping my fingers crossed. I am now going to try to get either probiotics, milk thistle or something for detox into her. Lots of anxiety about her friend copying her. She said it feels like their stealing her life away when they copy her. Can't really tell if it is confusion or anxiety. Or perhaps anxiety because she is so confused. Every once in awhile she sticks things in peoples faces, like food or mud. I am thinking the next thing to try is probiotics, then milk thistle, then something for detox. Just wondering what you guys thought?

Pep talk, kick in the pants or both
MamaOnAMission replied to FallingApart's topic in PANS / PANDAS (Lyme included)
She may just remember how your the one who has always tried to help her too. You must be terrific to deal with a child like this. It is sooooooo difficult. I need some thing for stress but I can't take it, because if I look the least bit relaxed, she freaks and says I am not paying attention to her, or I am day dreaming. Freaks her out, and scares the ###### out of me. Fortunately, I have my mothers patience (not always) or she would be minced meat!!! Someone one day told me "when things seem really unbearable, just remember how it must be for them." Thinkign of you!!! -
Abilify for racing thoughts or confusion
MamaOnAMission replied to MamaOnAMission's topic in PANS / PANDAS (Lyme included)
Thanks very much for your replays. I can not fathom her losing another friend! I will try anything at this point. This poor child. I appreciate your help. -
psychiatrist wants to try abilifly for racing thoughts/confusion. This is her main symptom. Her thoughts and confusion start to build and she keeps snapping and lashing out at people. Scares the ###### out of us. I am sure its going to take a long time for the antibiotics to help with this. What to use in mean time????

Has anyone used seroquel or topomax?
MamaOnAMission replied to MamaOnAMission's topic in PANS / PANDAS (Lyme included)
I thought I read somewhere that at the LLMD conference...doctors said there are a lot of psych. symptoms w/bart. and psych drugs are often needed. Probably read wrong. -

I wonder why a lot of LLMD docs say that Bart. Kids need lots of psychiatric drugs but I keep hearing how they don't work for many people????
