My DS7 has been in an absolutely VILE mood for the past three days or so. He is very "off" in saying things, so it's kindof hard to figure what is real and what's not. He just seems to pick a fight and will go off on tangents that don't mean anything - to us anyway.

So he just asked me why his "weiner feels hot". I asked him if it hurt when he peed and he said yes. So thinking, could a UTI cause the increase in pandas symptoms? I had a doctor (when we went in the past for his frequent urination before I knew of pandas) tell me boys do not get UTIs. I don't believe that, but I know its more uncommon. He's already on Zithromiacin 250mg daily.

How long would you wait to see if he continues to complain of this before going to the doctor. Of course it's friday night so that would also mean either ER or the urgent care.

Is there any correlation between pandas and UTI's?

My son had a UTI without me knowing it while he was on zithromax 250MG twice a day. I found out only because we were doing a full panel of blood work for Lyme. I would not let this go. Take care.

Is he constipated? I know this sounds strange but I was told that 90% of painful urination in boys is due to constipation and in my son's case, it was. The Dr referred to constipation as "having rabbit pellets instead of baseball bats" can lead to painful urination.

Yeast can also cause burning, but typically there would be some redness at the top.

My older son will occassionally say it hurts and it feels hot, but the next day he's fine. As for the hot, I wonder if my son holds it too long, as for the hurting, it could be a number of things. We even had him checked out once for a UTI and it wasn't. Push the water if you can. If he's still complaining of those sensations on Monday, call the doctor.

We had something similar happen last January with my 5yo pandas son. It turned out that he had too many oxalates from a supplement that I was giving him (biocidin, it's a blend of herbs). Oxalates cause small crystals to form in the urine. There are also many foods which contain a lot of oxalates (peanuts, potatoes, can't remember any more than that). So I stopped the biocidin and the "strange feeling" in his penis went away. However, the holding of the groin became a tic that lasted until we did IVIG.

My son gets this when he is entering an exacerbation. We've brought him in for to check for a UTI multiple times and it has always been negative. It think it goes with the urinary frequency in our case and is truly chapped!

I'd bring him in to get checked for a UTI. If it is not a UTI, I'd look for other signs of an exacerbation.

Uh oh! That sounds like what my dog has - LOL! Actually not funny since he requires surgery for it and it's NOT cheap - also needs to eat RX food only :(

anyway, he's been fine the rest of the night, but I'm going to keep a close watch. I'll watch him pee next time too. Since I've worked with DD adults for nearly 20 years, I'm also used to checking for the "smell" of a UTI. I'll definitely push the water!
