kimballot Posted September 9, 2010 Report Posted September 9, 2010 Im just asking,,,We say Dr J today and she wants him to try this to see.Oh by the way danny has mild asthma to add to his list of dxs.. This is very interesting. Danny is a teenager - correct? I have wondered if celebrex would help our kids. My mom with inflammatory arthritis is really helped with celebrex. I don't understand the baby aspirin - is that also anti inflammatory? I always think of that as a blood thinner, but perhaps it is anti inflammatory as well. If you do try Danny on it - could you let us know how it goes? Thanks, Melanie

Well... let us know how it goes if you do it! THis may be a new treatment for some of our older kids (I am assuming you have to be older for celebrex.. but I really do not know that for sure!)

melanie Posted September 10, 2010 Author Report Posted September 10, 2010 He had a really great day His teacher called and said he had the best day ever..Coincidence maybe but Ill take it.. Dr J said the iVIG doesnt help asthma .His asthma is mild I think its just tons of inflamation causing the asthma symptoms.Hes never complained about the asthma . She didsay one of the reasons danny does so well 11 days after the IV is due to the solomedrol(sp) used..It last 11 days. The celebrex and the asth,ma meds have simular effects Melanie

norcalmom Posted September 11, 2010 Report Posted September 11, 2010 HI melanie - How long ago did you do ivig? ds had high does ivig 5 weeks ago. its kind of a roller ocast, and overall I think its working, but last couple days have not been good. Not exacerbation bad, but symtoms I thought were getting better post ivig came back. I hate the waiting. Its so disheartening when things go well and then you have some bad days, I feel like maybe the good days were all in my head. My son is 11. Oh, fish oil is suppossed to thin blood as well, so if you are taking that as a supplement and are going to add baby asprin might want to check it out with doc that you don't over do it.
melanie Posted September 12, 2010 Author Report Posted September 12, 2010 Hi Dan cant do any fish oils he reacts pretty bad to them .He gets IV every 21 days 1g per kilo. His next one is this friday.#11 he has ID. I know most people on this site have the ups and downs after the Ivwe do to but its a little different because we do them more frequently Melanie
EAMom Posted September 12, 2010 Report Posted September 12, 2010 Dr J said the iVIG doesnt help asthma . IVIG can help asthma, but I believe it has to be high dose (the study I saw was 2gm/kg). Here's an abstract with some info. http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/11894729
melanie Posted September 12, 2010 Author Report Posted September 12, 2010 Thanks now Im more confused Melanie
nevergiveup Posted September 13, 2010 Report Posted September 13, 2010 Melanie, My dd gets ivig every 21 days also, just started with 21 days was 28 days. She had a lot of headache but more concerning was she had a lot of neck pain, up to four days after ivig this time. Is the solumedrol given to reduce side effects? I have an appt with immunologist soon and will be asking for support on her side effects now that the dose is stronger. Any suggestions? I believe the solumedrol is a steroid? How much does he receive? How are his side effects? Have u seen tic reduction before with ivig or is this the first time? Thanks He had a really great day His teacher called and said he had the best day ever..Coincidence maybe but Ill take it..
