I came home from work today and learned received my son's school schedule in the mail - he has his (and my) favorite teacher for homeroom and for one of his classes, the special education teacher we wanted, AND he has resource room at the end of the day, (something I've been requesting for 3 years now). This will allow him to organize his work and get a backpack checkout before leaving to come home!

As if that wasn't enough good news... I received a phone call from the local blood lab stating that the State has approved my request to have blood drawn for igenex testing (yes.. that is correct... they needed State approval before they would draw the blood!)... It is a good thing becuase tomorrow is Wednesday and we can only draw igenex blood on Mon, Tues. or Wed. The pressure was on as I took my son off ABX for 10 days to prepare for the IGENEX test... and school starts next week so I NEED to get the zith back in him!

THIRD... I had a meeting with a new pediatrician today (been waiting for this for a couple of months). I'd heard he had a couple of other PANDAS kids. My current pediatrician is great but not real supportive in the PANDAS area, which made life difficult (to say the least) during our 6-month exacerbation last winter. The new pediatrician was wonderful... he REALLY GOT IT. He Actually knew who Swedo and Singer were and laughed at the thought of them in the same room at the NIMH meeting in July. He was very happy with Dr. Bs plans for our son and is happy to take us on as patients... PANDAS craziness and all!!

So... that is my tripple Crown day! I figured you guys would understand my excitement~!

Now... I don't know if I dare to try it... but I thought I'd share some old Engish good luck superstition with you all. On the first day of the month (tomorrow) .... in the morning.. before you get out of bed ... say "Rabbit Rabbit". According to a good friend of mine that is supposed to give you good luck all month! (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rabbit_rabbit) I figure we can all use as much luck as possible!

You go, girl! You're one very fortunate lady, but as my dad has frequently said, you make your own luck! No doubt your karma is finally coming around for you and your DS. Congrats!

"Rabbit, rabbit!" it is, then! Maybe there's a trifecta in our future, too! One can always hope! :D

Might I suggest a dawn, "Rabbit, Rabbit" mimosa party?! :P Sure would put a different light on the beginning of the day, at least! ;)

I didn't know that kids had to be off antibiotics for the igenex blood draw??????

Nancy

Nancy - I think it depends on which igenex test you are getting. The igenex folks recommend coming off for the ones we got(at least the person I spoke to at Igenex did)... I did not ask Dr. B about it. My son was doing well so I decided to go for it, given the price tag on the test. I did not want to say to myself afterwards "Well.. maybe it was negative because of the antibiotics".

If my son had any symptoms come back I would have started him right back up again on zith (and probably cursed myself). In fact, I will have a pill with me for him to take tomorrow right after the blood draw! Let's hope my luck holds out and he does not get sick in the next few days!

yay!

btw, what state do ou live in? That sounds so wrong, to need permission to run a blood test.

What state do I live in? I live in a state of confusion over why I pay taxes to fund the salaries of people who have the responsibility of determing if I can pay my own money to hire a licensed professional to draw blood from my son's arm to send to a lab that I will pay for with my own money to get tests sent to a licensed doctor to determine my son's health. I guess they are just watching out for me? I would never have believed "cure Unknown" if I did not live in the great state of NY myself - Perhaps the other lime infested states are just as quirky, but it seems NY takes the cake to me!

Oh...our friends in NY went out of state to get their blood drawn for Igenex. I didn't realize you could get "approved"!

I would be in a state of confusion as well!

The way I learned the "Rabbit, Rabbit" thing in COLLEGE  --our RA taught us was with a bit more vim & vigor. You are to hop out of bed, and first thing, hopping on your right foot in a clock-wise direction, exclaim: "Happy Rabbit,Rabbit Day!! Happy Rabbit,Rabbit Day!! Happy Rabbit, Rabbit Day!!!" Now--have no fear if you happen to forget on the first of the month, but remember on the second day. Hop on your left foot in a counter-clockwise direction exclaiming:"Happy TIBBAR, TIBBAR Day!! Happy Tibbar, Tibbar Day!! Happy Tibbar Tibbar Day!!" and all will be well. Unfortunately, at my age neither is a very wise choice-I'm libel to just wet my pants!! :o I wonder if we applied the same principle to PANDAS-saying it bw's--SADNAP 3x's that it would go away! Dawn

Iowa Dawn - Thank goodness you posted! I just got out of bed, hopped on my laptop for my early morning latitudes fix... and realized that I forgot to say rabbit rabbit!! Thankfully, I can correct that tomorrow with a few hops and "tibbar tibbar". I just hope my luck is not in jeopardy today! :)

Sometimes it feels like I've just woken up from a SAD NAP when i think about the nightmare of PANDAS... but I am going to focus on my trifecta good luck today!

Rabbit Rabbit everyone... (or Tibbar Tibbar if you read this on the second!)
