Adrenal supplements questions

dut

Recommended Posts

Hi - I usually hang out on the PANDAS board but thought I may have more responses to my adrenal questions over here as there are so many more natural supplement discussion on this side.

My ds2 has tested low for am cortisol and high for pm cortisol (also way high for DHEA). He is a terrible sleeper.

Our ped has put him on licorice root for the am and seriphos for the pm. I was wondering if anyone here had used these supplements for adrenal support and what your experiences have been?

thanks....

I have taken deglycerized licorice root, but as part of a mixture of glutamine, arabinogalactin, and aloe, as a digestive tract helper, in my case, something to help rebuild esophagus lining. Haven't heard of its use for adrenal support. For adrenal support, I have taken rhodiola and cordyceps.

DGL liquorice is a "wonder supp" for healing the digestive tract but differs from regular liquorice root in that the regular raises blood pressure so not sure which one you are using Dut, but hope the physician mentioned that

Sorry I cound not get back to you yesterday, our power was out.

My son had the tissue analysis done very early after his dx, so this info is about 3 years old. His body was in an alarm stage of stress and that stress caused the releasing hormones by the adrenal gland to put him in a both a slow and fast oxidation. His would experience lack of energy and sudden increase in energy. His dr. put him on vit A and C and E he was to take calcium, mag, and zinc.

It seems your adrenal test and my son's is different that my info is not helpful.

thanks for the responses..

Chemar - It is the DGL type that we are using, thanks.

Our ped has also put our depressed cortisol dd on the lic root too. So far my ds who was waking anything from 6-8 or more times a night, seems to be sleeping better - only 3 wakes this week so far each night but we have been away to the seaside for 4 days :) so he has been much more tired than usual, having way later bedtimes. Still I am hopeful that the seriphos is doing the job of combatting his late night, high cortisone levels.

Here's to more sleep! (hopefully)
