Worried Dad - Glad that you were finally diagnosed & could get some help! Even though the neurology department there doesn't support P.A.N.D.A.S., the hospital that I go to is absolutely wonderful & is great at getting to the bottom of things. Hopefully I'll be able to figure something out soon!

KeithandElizabeth - Any connection between those other bacteria & P.A.N.D.A.S. too, maybe? I don't know what most of them mean but the strep antigen levels are really interesting.

Hi, Wendy:

Nope, I was never treated with abx for Crohn's. Back when I was diagnosed, there were some theories about viral or bacterial triggers, but nobody was even sure that infection had anything to do with Crohn's. I did have a few courses of prednisone over the years to moderate symptoms during flares.

So far (about a week into clindamycin), no dramatic change in Crohn's. I know abx can cause intestinal problems for some people, but - if anything - I'd say my Crohn's is at least slightly better. Interesting, eh?

Did they ever treat you with antibiotics and have the antibiotics you are taking now helped with Crohn's?

Crohn's isn't easy to diagnose, unfortunately, or wasn't when I first got sick (about 20 years ago). I ended up at Mayo Clinic in MN after a year with no diagnosis locally. Mayo based the diagnosis on clinical history and the results of a colonoscopy, where they checked for the telltale presence of intestinal lesions. Not fun... but it was a huge relief to finally know what I was dealing with!

Worried Dad - How would I go about getting tested? I had an upper GI about four years ago but that was mostly looking for complications they thought had arisen from an emergency appendectomy about seven years ago (none were find. Although they did find out my metabolism is four times quicker than usual. Yipee!). Besides that I've never done any other intestinal/abdominal testing & wouldn't even really know how to go about it.

Keep us post on your progress..... I have a funny feeling on your behalf. Again, we are treating my husband until his ASO is sub negative and rotating antibiotics in more of a Lyme protocol fashion. My husband also had unexplained GI issues and prostrate pain.

We have tried everything and sometimes you just need to bring in the big guns. DD has been battling severe PANDAS for over 12 years -- her rages were quite violent and I was beginning to fear for our lives. Too much dopamine flooding her brain. I won't give up until we can find the underlying cause...

AS one human to another, as one mom to another....

I love you!!
