JAG10 Posted June 5, 2010 Report Posted June 5, 2010 I really don't want to sound like I'm trying to relate everything under the sun to PANDAS. My dd is 10 1/2 and one could have nothing to do with the other, but... for those of you with children in the prepuberty-puberty years, have you noticed any relationship between treatments and acne in your kids? When she first tried zith, she broke out a lot on her forehead, then when she switched to biaxin another cluster of acne began to appear on the forehead. Now she just started augmentin and another surge of acne has appeared by the hairline. I would have thought 10 is young for acne to become this frequent, but maybe not? Or is it possible the different antibiotics are bringing this out early in her?
MomWithOCDSon Posted June 5, 2010 Report Posted June 5, 2010 DS13 has only been on Augmentin for the past several months, and no break-outs. Though I will say, in general, his skin is pretty good. A little pimple here or there for short periods, but no distinct "patches" occurring either before or during abx treatment.
Chemar Posted June 5, 2010 Report Posted June 5, 2010 Hi as microbes die, they produce toxins and the skin is an area that aids with detoxing so this may be what it is related to, rather than actual "acne" FYI sodium bentonite ie fullers earth mixed with a little water makes a great healing paste to apply to breakouts
EAMom Posted June 5, 2010 Report Posted June 5, 2010 don't know! But Azith. is a treatment for acne. 250mg 3x weekly http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/10651967 another study 500mg 3x weekly http://dermatology.cdlib.org/134/original/...n/bardazzi.html Interestingly, this person was on both sprinolactone and Azith. (That's the med Stephanie2's kids were on? Right?) http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qi...3155516AAE5GxBn But, it does seems like using Azith for Acne can take many weeks for improvement...just like PANDAS.
coco Posted June 6, 2010 Report Posted June 6, 2010 My dd10 also has what looks like may be acne at first pass...reddish bumps as emerging little pimples on her nose and sides of her nose. Then it seemed to be another bout of impetigo, which she just has 3 weeks ago on the tip of and under her nose. It's hard to tell what this is right now. I will see if it starts to get oozy and get it swabbed. What is so confounding to me it that she has been on abx for so long, most recently biaxin and if this is strep I am @#%$^@%!!! Her titers are now for the first time normal in almost a year.
melanie Posted June 6, 2010 Report Posted June 6, 2010 Danny has acne too.I have posted many x that when he has a real bad day his acne is at its worst.Hes been on many antibiotics none which helped. i never know what o do with the acne thing.
Kayanne Posted June 7, 2010 Report Posted June 7, 2010 I have read that acne can also be a sign of yeast overgrowth.
