Lynn777 Posted May 20, 2010 Report Posted May 20, 2010 (edited) Me again - I have two quick questions... First, I keep reading about "simple" tics vs. "complex" tics, but I'm not really sure what the exact difference is - what specifically classifies a tic as "complex"? Second, my DS loves to play table tennis (ping pong) on both the wii and at the YMCA. Well, his most recent tic consists of him "playing" table tennis with his head (drives me nuts!). Anyway, he is much more conscious of this tic then any of the other one's and in fact, he's the one who named it. The thing is, when I asked him about it he told me "I love doing it and it's really fun" (God help me!). Is that typical? Don't get me wrong, I'd much rather he like it instead of being bothered by it, but here I am crying my eyes out, researching this about 16 hours a day, not eating, not sleeping and ready to sell my soul to the devil to take these things away and he thinks his tic is "really fun". I'm just wondering if that's "normal"? Thanks again. This board is a life line for me right now. ~Lynn Edited May 20, 2010 by Lynn777
Chemar Posted May 21, 2010 Report Posted May 21, 2010 Hi Lyn this chart at Leslie Packer's excellent TS site may help you differentiate between simple and complex tics http://www.tourettesyndrome.net/Files/CommonTics.PDF re the "fun" tic, I think it is may be more his way of describing the relief that comes from releasing the tic....
