Yes, we have. And it appears to have helped with focus and "antsiness."

DS13, 130 pounds, started on 1 mg. Intuniv about 5 months ago; after 1 month, we increased to 2 mg., and we have held it there since (I think max dose for ADHD/ADD type behaviors is 4 mg.).

Both times we began the doses, he had 3 or 4 days of feeling drowsy in the afternoon, but he would adjust and that side effect would fade away by about day 5 or 6.

We also understand that it can lower blood pressure, so we have a home blood pressure monitor that we test every 2 weeks or so, and we always make sure he has a good lunch and an afternoon snack so that his blood sugar doesn't fall off and cause him to fade in the afternoon.

DS reports that he feels more focused and less antsy in school since beginning the Intuniv.

We tried it but did not get good results at all. She focusing got worse and she became scared of everything. It was a terrible experience.

Thanks !! Im going to call the MD and ask her opinion too .

Did It seem to help with the tics?

We went to see someone who is considered the top pediatric neurologist in this area. She recommended this drug as a possibility in the next year or two if we felt some ADD/impulse issues were left from the disease. She said it helped kids with tics control them and did not have any neuro side effects which is nice. She felt like it was a great option. I would definitely try it if needed.

I will also add that our psych prefers Intuniv to another non-stimulant medication for ADD/ADHD behaviors, Straterra. His response was purely anectdotal, but when questioned, he replied that he's seen a lot of kids for whom Straterra doesn't seem to work, but the research on Intuniv suggests it is a good option.

The tics got worse. It really was a very dramatic downward spiral. She became afraid of snakes in her bed and would not sleep in it. She had horrible nightmares. Her hands shook when she played the piano because she was afraid of making a mistake. Piano practicing would end in tears and meltdowns. She was coming home with 0's on her paper because she would not do them. I think these are things that are always there with her, but she is able to work through and conquor. After starting the Intuniv, it just sent her over the edge. And quite honestly, it really surprised me. I really thought Intuniv would be the one to help her. I put a lot of research into it before starting.

Fixit, we started seeing things spiral within a week. She kept taking it because we wanted to see if she would adjust to it. It just got worse as time went on. We stopped it after around 3, maybe 4 weeks. I don't remember exactly. It took about 2 weeks to get back to baseline. I should also mention that we had low blood pressure issues the first week. We never raised the dose from the 1mg because her BP stayed low.
