I've had OCD for years now, but it's very strange. I have obsessions and compulsions, but not both together. The obsessions are straightforward intrusive thoughts, except that I don't in any way believe them - they just will not leave me alone, when they're there. The compulsions are for no reason at all. I just have to do them - very much like Tourette's syndrome, only with more complicated behaviours and only in particular circumstances. All this seems to make it impossible to treat my OCD in the usual way. (I've already got rid of the few parts that did respond to the usual methods).

Just lately I came across something called Tourettic OCD (many thanks to everyone who told me about that!). It seems exactly like what I've got. But I still don't know what I can do about it. Does anyone have any experience of Tourettic OCD? Can you suggest anything that might help at all?

Also, just a long shot but could PANDAS possibly come into this, and if so could you point me to any information about that? (I have some aspects of Asperger's syndrome as well, have had all my life - long before the OCD started.)

Many thanks,

hi

I have quite a lot of posts here about tourettic OCD so if you do a search for the term under my user name you should find them all

my son's tourettic ocd has always been more bothersome to him than just the tics or "regular" OCD symptoms

you can read more about what has helped him for that in my signature link

PANDAS refers to illness that can include tics and OCD related to strep infections.

there is also a condition called PITAND where the tics and OCD may be related to other infections by bacteria, viruses, fungus like candida etc.

es[ecially if f you have a history of strep, or other infections, it is definitely worth checking into

the PANDAS forum has more info on it altho many there seem to use antibiotics etc to treat it

What do you mean by that? Obviously it has a lot in common with OCD, or it wouldn't be a form of OCD would it. If you mean I should try CBT, I did once - we discussed it all for an hour and then she sent me home saying she didn't know what to do about it.

I'm afraid I can't quite follow your supplement thread, it's been modified so often. Which is the latest version? I've tried magnesium citrate in the past, at 500mg. I thought it helped a bit. I'm now taking some pills with calcium 1000mg/magnesium 500mg in mixed forms. But I didn't notice any change when I started taking them, and when I don't get around to taking them I don't notice any difference. Can you suggest anything?

I forgot to mention that I've always had some ADD symptoms as well, and had some tics when I was a kid (squeaking, mostly).

Many thanks,

I updated the thread last month. it is on the last page

http://www.latitudes.org/forums/index.php?...amp;#entry55099

tourettic OCD usually refers to when tics can morph into O-C symptoms or vv

by symptoms of classic OCD I meant those times when the O-C behaviors are very distinct from and not being influenced by or morphing into the tics, like tourettic OCD does

I posted about the two kinds so that you would see why I was sending you to the link I gave on the OCD forum

Oh, I see. I thought I'd seen all the OCD websites, but I think you've managed to find some new ones!

Thanks for the explanation, I'll have a look at the update.

All the best,
