mom md Posted October 24, 2009 Report Posted October 24, 2009 I did accupuncture for a while a few years ago and really liked it. I had several issues that were helped. I really think it works. If the "energy" in these kids is out of wack could it not help get it flowing the right way and calm the immune system? I know they do it on kids a lot and use rolling balls instead of needles. My son has been to so many doctors though I don't want to add anything else if people think it is a waste.
memom Posted October 24, 2009 Report Posted October 24, 2009 Though I have considered it, have never tried it. Also felt like going for the biggest bang treatments first until we get close to normal made sense. I bet it would help with some of the emotional stuff (someone on this board mentioned osteopathic manipulative therapy helped their child be more calm for the day or two around the treatment). Let us know if you try it. Couldn't hurt. Ellie
Chemar Posted October 24, 2009 Report Posted October 24, 2009 Hi my son isnt dx with PANDAS but is with TS/OCD and Crohn's he is almost 20yo now and has been having acupuncture since 11yo and finds it by far the most beneficial therapy, as he gets immediate relief when in flare etc We have an acupuncture therapist who is clinically trained. Be careful in choosing the therapist.
smartyjones Posted October 24, 2009 Report Posted October 24, 2009 my son is doing cranio-sacral therapy. when i was searching for the homeopathic protocol we are using that i saw mentioned on this forum, i contacted that company. the person they referred me to was traditionally trained in physical therapy, has an ND degree and does CST. he suggessted we do CST also. i believe it to be a help. unfortunately, he is not going as often as i'd like b/c we pay out of pocket. he goes about 1x/month - i'd like 1x/week or once every 2 weeks. if you're interested, i can elaborate on how i think it helps. as with anything - the person and training are important. our dr was trained with the Upledger Institute - i believe in FL. http://upledger.com/content.asp?id=61 interestingly, i was checking out how this forum exists - and John Upledger is on the advisory board.
