JensOfSweden
Hello everyone! I just joined here and I thought I was gonna introduce myself a little bit. I'm 30 years old, from Sweden and I have tics (mild-moderate) and mild OCD. The tics started when I was 6 years old and I was coughing all the time. My mum took me to the doctor and he told her that nothing was wrong with me and it was just some odd behavior that would go over. The tics went away pretty much from when I was in high school up until 25-26 years of age. I'm also thinking that maybe I had some tics but didn't pay them any attention because I read that many people with tics don't necessarily "know" about them. Anyways, I've had obsessive thoughts/behavior since like high school and while mild most of the time, sometimes the thoughts have been hard. I have eaten SSRI/SNRI medications (5 different ones) against depression, social anxiety, panic attacks etc). I don't eat any medication really since 2 years back although I can't stop Zoloft all together and eat like a tiny fraction of a pill every 2 weeks or something. Yeah, a bit weird but it's some sort of dependancy. So my tics came back some years ago and I dunno why. I'm stuck with them and I'm easily annoyed and frustrated in daily life. I found this site after buying the Sheila Rogers book on natural treatments for TS from the internet. I have found that what I eat and drink affect my tics ALOT. Basically, what makes tics worse is probably caffeine/sugar for #1. Alcohol also makes me tic more but at the same time I don't care as much if that makes sense. Doesn't bother me as much when I'm drunk. Also being hung over adds to my tics quite alot. I tic more after eating milk&cereal and milk in general seems to be an issue although an allergy test for lactose didn't reveal anything. I'm allergic to pollen. I have read alot about nutrition for TS and found that the most effective ones for me are Magnesium + strong B-vitamins. I can't eat fish oil because I get a weird reaction from it; I get anxious and feel "weird". Anyone else gotten that too? I don't like it and I would LOVE to be able to eat it. Anyways, I'm not gonna bore y'all. Hello from Sweden!
