For those of you curious about my stingray wound!

Recommended Posts

Ok, so this is still OT for our boards but so many of you have wished me well! I am currently on round 2 of antibiotics and the area around the wound is sore and swollen. Right now I'm just praying that I don't need a hospital stay for IV antibiotics!!!! I'd hate to be 'healthy' and be in the hospital. Talk about boring and risking getting other hospital born illnesses. So, my doc said to wait until Tuesday on the augmentin that I'm on and then we may have to do an MRI or CT scan to see what things look like below the surface. I may need surgery to debride the wound and clean out dead tissue if this round of antib. doesn't work. Again, that's the last thing I'd like to have happen!

Also, a hospital stay would not be handled very well by my anxious ds so I'm praying that I heal up well in the next few days!

Bonnie

have you tried the honey on the wound?

it was the only thing that turned around my infected cat bite wound

praying you will heal quickly

Gosh,no! I totally forgot! I've been taking sovereign silver, vitamin C, garlic, and soaking in sea salt and tea tree oil. I'll have to try the honey! How long do you leave the compress on, Char?

Bonnie, soak the gauze in honey then attach to the wound with elastic bandage to hold in place. I changed the dressing twice a day.

I put it on last night and wore it through the night. Took it off this AM. I'm going to redo it later once I soak my foot in sea salt again. Wound care sure does take a lot of time out of my day!

Bonnie, I don't know anything about sovereign silver, but I do know that some things like calcium, magnesium and zinc can latch on to meds and make them ineffective. I would be cautious about using a product like that in conjunction with the antibiotic. Might be fine, but it raised a red flag here. I'd research the heck outta that before I took the two together.

Hmmm, never thought of that Kim. I haven't been taking my cal mag b/c I knew it could interfere and I've just been doing vit C and some other immune boosters. I'll research the silver. I've only taken it twice so far anyway. Thanks!

i know some people love CS but the only kind I've ever tried has been Sovereign Silver and I don't think it did anything for me. I've used it for multiple sicknesses (colds, sore throats, etc.) and never saw any difference vs. when I didn't use it.

I've put it on wounds and didn't notice any quicker healing vs. when I didn't use it.

I even put some in plant water once since I heard that CS added to a vase will keep a plant alive for longer. Nope! But it grew some nasty looking crap along the plant stem (could have been unrelated to the CS).

I think if I ever try CS again, I will not be using Sovereign Silver brand.

I have no idea whether or not colloidal silver interferes with antibiotics but I do know that it is helping my husband greatly. He is seriously ill and if he stops taking it his condition worsens. He was told by the doctor to only use Sovereign Silver

Bonnie, I do hope your wound is healing
