Heather
Chemar, Thanks for the connection to the thread on Braintalk and sharing. I am still trying to get my message posted on there. Had some trouble with email (hotmail) and passwords and stuff trying to get registered. Will keep trying.
Guest Jean
Heather, It's very nice of you sharing what you have experienced. It's so good to hear that your son is improving daily. Never worry about sharing what you have (good or bad). We all learn from either one. With my son's current situation, everything (from naturopathic) is on hold. I hope he'll be better soon so we can get back on track. Thanks again for the sharing.
Heather
One more thing. My son has always been into licking us. Even before the tics were present, as a toddler when we would cuddle him, he always would want to lick our faces. We used to even get mad at him (before we realized that this was a compulsion) for licking. Smelling us was another compulsion that he experienced, always wanting to sniff our bodies. Anyway, my husband and I were just commenting tonight that we have not seen either of these behaviours in a couple of weeks and they have been present for years. Claire
Heather, that is absolutely wonderful news re the years old habits being dropped and general improvement. Wow! And please don't stop giving the positive news. On this thread we honestly care about eachothers good news--after all, it is our children's lives we are discussing! Jennifer had a similar success with her son's habits with detox, and Chemar with her varied program. It actually is highly motivating to us to believe that we can make a difference in our own children's lives. We need to know that this can work, to stick with it. My son occasionally has some touching habits, and though no one but me and he notice it when he does I do hope he also sees improvement there. I am just being forced to be 'patient' with these set-backs and waiting for the yeast program and ultimately the heavy metal. With my husband's caution and the recent set-backs, I dare not start anything without this doctor supervising each step right now. I want to ask my DAN doctor whether the effectiveness of the detox/yeast etc... programs relates to age. e.g. Should an adult with tics/TS do this program, would it be 'too late' to see improvement in symptoms. Hmmm... You are lucky to do this so early! Claire
Heather
Claire, I have read many stories of adults improving with supplements for various ailments. There is one man who writes a testimonial on Bonnie Grimaldi's website that claims he is 40's or 50's (I forget) and has sufferred from TS since he was a child. After taking Bonnie's supplements he is completely free of tics. There is a picture of him too. It is an interesting story. He is an extremely successful professional since, because of his tics, he had a very strong ambition to succeed and threw himself into his studies. I have also read stories of others (older) who have completely reversed symptoms. Heather
Claire
Very very interesting Heather! Remarkable actually. Kind of changes thinking on TS a bit. As I said before, this kind of thing fills me with hope for my son. I really like the fact that this helps with 'habits' also. Claire
Claire
Heather, I just read a post of yours that I somehow missed re your adding antioxidants. I tend to think that these all work in conjunction (certainly that is what my DAN doctor thinks), and wouldn't be surprised if the antioxidants combined with the NDF did make a difference. I know that it is virtually impossible to know for sure when you mix supplements, but I tend to look at changes in my son (good or bad) when I add something new. I will ask my DAN doctor about both NDF and Threelac. Unfortunately, I must now wait 3 wks+ for the visit, given the delay in the heavy metal blood test. Too bad he doesn't do the hair test. I would like to get a through yeast test for myself. I am sure I had it in college, and don't know if I have some low grade version now. I know that I have more energy when eating low-carb, which is also low sugar though. If I can't easily get the test, then I may just try Threelac and no sugar for a time. Guest Jean
Hi Heather, I'm sure you mentioned this before. Hope you don't mind that I ask you again. Did you detox yeast and heavy metal for your son at the same time? If not, which one you started first? We're waiting for the hair analysis result. We'll have to wait to collect my son's stool as Motrin and antibiotic will interfere the test result. Our naturopathic thinks that my son's immune system is weak. She said that she wants to start from there. she is so looking forward to seeing his hair (heavy metal) test results
Heather
Hi Jean, My naturopath tested for yeast first and initially did not even talk about heavy metals. Her method is to first get rid of yeast and then if the problems are still there to test for the metals. Anyway, we detoxed for yeast first for a couple of months. Once his body showed no yeast, we started the NDF for metals since by that time we had the hair analysis done as well. My naturopath told me that while we are detoxing the metals his yeast may get out of balance again and that we will have to go back to that. Since starting the NDF every once in awhile he has had a very loose bowel movement so I then stop the NDF for a couple of days and give him Threelac for the yeast. Not sure if it is the yeast coming back or what but the reintroduction of the Threelac seems to improve the bowel movement. Hope your son is feeling better!!!! Heather
Also, Jean, I never mind answering questions so never worry about repeats. I only wish more people with children sufferring from this would ask questions. It frustrates me that there are so many children with worsening symptoms that are taking more and more medically prescribed drugs.
Claire
I saw this great thimerosal/mercury post on another latitudes thread... http://www.latitudes.org/forums/index.php?...st=0entry2142 "THe UK Food Safety agency made a real gaff by stating the safe levels of Mercury in fish such as tuna and swordfish..... It turns out the level of mercury used in the MMR vaccine is 43 TIMES that allowed for an adult from FISH!...." and more... Claire
