rysmom58 Posted October 4, 2008 Report Posted October 4, 2008 Hi, my son does this quick thing where he make a quick rasberry (no vocal sounds) just the rasberry sound from the air going through his lips. Is this considered a vocal tic or a motor tic?
P_Mom Posted October 4, 2008 Report Posted October 4, 2008 Any sound requiring air is a vocal tic, so, the raspberry is a vocal.
guy123 Posted October 4, 2008 Report Posted October 4, 2008 How often does he do it? I do that to help blow off steam when I'm stressed out or annoyed (which is quite often, lol).
rysmom58 Posted October 4, 2008 Author Report Posted October 4, 2008 How often does he do it? I do that to help blow off steam when I'm stressed out or annoyed (which is quite often, lol). He used to do it all the time and now just once in a while. I'm trying to figure out if he has motor and vocal tics or just motor tics (for when i talk to dr.). In the past year or two he has only had motor tics except for the rasberry one and that was out during the spring/summer and now is only once in a great while.
Chemar Posted October 4, 2008 Report Posted October 4, 2008 Hi here is some general info on Tourette tics that may be helpful to you http://www.tourettesyndrome.net/tourette_primer.htm chart of tic types http://www.tourettesyndrome.net/Files/CommonTics.PDF it sounds like a vocal tic, but in truth one really has to see (or hear) first hand to be sure
