Greyhound Posted May 12, 2008 Report Posted May 12, 2008 Does anyone have any easy ways of crushing tablets (apart from buying a tablet crusher )? I have supplements from Holland and Barratt and they hurt to swallow. I tried grating one but it didn't work
Chemar Posted May 12, 2008 Report Posted May 12, 2008 Hi Greyhound take two tablespoons and put tablets in hollow of one and then nestle the other tablespoon on top (ie bottom of it touching the tabs in the top of the other) and press down and use side to side motion too powdered tab will result

I have supplements from Holland and Barratt and they hurt to swallow. I tried grating one but it didn't work I always bought the pill crushers and found they were well worth the expense! I actually found some at the dollar store once and bought several.
Greyhound Posted May 13, 2008 Author Report Posted May 13, 2008 Hi Greyhound take two tablespoons and put tablets in hollow of one and then nestle the other tablespoon on top (ie bottom of it touching the tabs in the top of the other) and press down and use side to side motion too powdered tab will result lol Thanks I'll try this, but I think these tablet are too big and hard lol
Chemar Posted May 13, 2008 Report Posted May 13, 2008 Greyhound for larger tabs I break them in half first...if they dont break easily, score the middle with a sharp knife then break along the score line. That should also make them easier to crush 1/2 at a time
Greyhound Posted May 13, 2008 Author Report Posted May 13, 2008 Oh yeah, duh I didn't think of that! I tried swallowing half at a time (it still hurt) but I didn't think of crushing half at a time Thanks
faith Posted May 17, 2008 Report Posted May 17, 2008 Greyhound, Not sure but thought you mentioned Dolomite? If you are using Dolomite as your cal/mag, I'm not sure but think they are known to contain lead, which is not good, as you want to avoid heavy metals in neuro condiitions. Faith
Greyhound Posted May 17, 2008 Author Report Posted May 17, 2008 No, I bought dolomite and then realised that I probably had enough calcium, so taking dolomite would just keep the levels unbalanced. I think I ended up taking just one tablet and I now take the magnesium (citrate) on its own. Thanks for the advice
faith Posted May 17, 2008 Report Posted May 17, 2008 Hi Greyhound, would you mind if I asked you if you have ever taken and kind of meds in the past to manage your tics? Is this the first time you are exploring supplements and dietary? Faith
Greyhound Posted May 18, 2008 Author Report Posted May 18, 2008 Hi Greyhound, would you mind if I asked you if you have ever taken and kind of meds in the past to manage your tics? Is this the first time you are exploring supplements and dietary? Faith Never, and yes it's my first time exploring supplements etc. and I'm so disappointed with the lack of results so far
Chemar Posted May 18, 2008 Report Posted May 18, 2008 Geyhound...do remember that it can take a couple of weeks for a supplements beneficial effects to show. It isnt necessarily an instant response.
