P_Mom
Hello Everyone! I hope everyone had a Merrry Christmas and here's to a GOOD NEW YEAR!!!! Anyway, I thought I'd post my recent experience with my PANDAS son and the Flu. Three days after Christmas, my PANDAS son came down with the Flu. Fever, headache, cough, etc. This was the sickest I have seen him in awhile, he usually does not get very sick with illness. Anyway, I was very much on edge because of the whole PANDAS thing and PITANDS, you know, how after the initial strep, any illness can trigger an exacerbation of symptoms. I had been wondering if this would be my sons case, well, much to my delight, and answered prayer, my son showed NO increase of symptoms, no ocd/tics etc.!! He was a bit grumpy, but, who wouldn't be, he had the flu! Well, I just wanted to post some good news, I know how we all desperately need to hear it sometimes!!! Extremely Grateful here Kelly By the way, seeing Dr. Berger in Ohio on the 16th. Will post my experience afterwards. I have a good feeling we will finally get the help with PANDAS we need, whether it be treatment or no treatment. I am very much trying to learn how to give this over to GOD. I KNOW he has us in his hands, I KNOW he knows what is best and that there is a reason for all this (this has changed our lives, and has also answered prayer (too hard to explain) , I want to give it to him and follow his lead, instead of frantically trying to control and solve this myself, which I can't. This is my obstacle now, I have always been a person of control, and always trying to find the answer to fix everything, now, I am really trying to learn how to give up that control, STOP WORRYING, and let God handle it. This is a big change and difficult for me, but, I know I ned to make the change, I will just pray every day for God to help me. Can anyone relate? faith
Kelly, I'm glad to hear that bit of news and glad that you are being guided down the spiritual path. I can definitely relate to your thoughts on the subject of lifting it up to God. Someone at church tells me "our lives pn earth were not meant to be easy, but He is with us through it all". Thanks for sharing that..........keep praying! * * * * * I too want to wish everyone a happy and "healthy" New Year! Blessings................ P_Mom
Hi, so you know it is good news for no increase in symptoms with viral illness. How is your son doing this time after strep? Are the tics worse than the first time with strep? Is he taking antibiotics? Thanks!

P_Mom
Did you use Zithromax for the 10 days? Do you do preventative antibiotic? Does he have any other issues? Thanks for replying.
LisaM
Kelly, I am so very happy to hear the good news about your son's reaction to the flu. I will pray for his continued good health. Hang in there. I do understand all you are going through as well. I believe we all find our own paths that are right for each of us - in time and with understanding and faith. Here's to a very healthy new year!
michele
Kelly, I was able to get Andrew in with Dr. Berger on next Monday. He is much better now after three weeks on omniseph. We even had lots of colds and sore throats over the holidays but he did not get any worse. I am glad to hear your son did well with the flu virus. I am anxious to see what Dr. Berger says in regards to prophylaxis antibiotics. We are back on pen vk this week. Today we went swimming and my son was not scared for the first time ever. Usually water is a great fear for him. I think the omniseph put him into a remission. Like you said before if we can find a Dr. who knows and believes in the pandas diagnosis and is willing to treat us then if we need help hopefully it will be there. God bless and Happy New Year. Let's hope it will be healthy! Michele Hello Everyone! I hope everyone had a Merrry Christmas and here's to a GOOD NEW YEAR!!!! CSP
HI Kelly, A BIG GO STEELERS!!!!! From my son. I hate to say it but I'm hoping for a loss this weekend. The faster the Steelers are out of the play-offs the calmer my son will get. My husband had to rub salt in his wounds by driving up to Pittsburg tomorrow, and take a buddy to see the game. My brother lives in Pittsburg and he gave him his tickets. My son is beside himself... How could his own father go to a play-off game without him, and how could his uncle (who has no sons of his own) not give the tickets to his nephew? I'm just sitting in the backround saying "Thank you God" for once I'm not the bad guy. I was freaking out in OCT. my brother calls and tells me he has tickets of my son to go to the World Series if the Indians were to win Boston. I couldn't tell my son, he would have exploded with tics, so I left that one to God. So all my son has now is the World Series tickets with the Indians name on it. My sweet brother gave those tickets to my son so he could prove to his friends he really was going to go had the Indians won. I think I have only shared this story with Patty, but March of 2006 I was sitting in a church that I normally do not attend. I was not crying, and no one in the church knew me or my son. After a little while a woman walked up to me put her arm around me, and said, "HE WILL TAKE CARE OF IT, HE WANTS YOU TO LET IT GO." She gave me a sweet smile and walked out of the church. I really, really believe God sent me her as an angel to help me deal with my son. So...I can relate, and I know God always answers our prayers. God Bless, C.P. P.S. So glad to hear the flu didn't make things worse.
kim
"HE WILL TAKE CARE OF IT, HE WANTS YOU TO LET IT GO." This gave me chills from head to toe. I have never been a controlling peson, actually quite passive. Somedays I see the toll, the time I devote to this takes, right down to my own kids. Yet I can't seem to stop searching for the bigger picture here. So what is my message????? Lift one up for me, will you CP ?(as in a quick prayer!) CSP
I've gotcha covered Kim, Keep me in yours, I need all I can get. kkver, Thats funny. You wouldn't believe the change in one day. He was so calm yesterday. He woke up with puffy eyes so I think my 14yo cried himself to sleep. Now I need to zap the Cowboys (my husbands team) or he will be ticcing "LOVE" and "BUDDY" for the next few weeks. CSP
