Hello,

Curing tourettes

Please check out this website http://www.stankurtz.com/ which talks about autism, ADHD - as i want to relate this to tourettes. I noticed that many people which autism have somewhat similar symptoms of tourettes. Check out the video of stans son when he has a "mini seizure" which he calls it and then has many moments where he just stares into space. It sort of reminded me of the movie awakenings patients shakes where so severe that they became somewhat "frozen" in the movie awakenings and where only brought to life when medication and stimulation was brought into play.

anyway what i am getting to is that could autism be a branch from tourettes? Could a tic be so bad it make the person freeze and stare into space for hours and hours? If autism can be cured (see the recovery videos) which I belive in some cases is sometimes more severe than tourettes (people with tourettes don't freeze up for hours on end - can communicate) why could tourettes not be cured? With diet, vitamins and treatment for antifungal etc treatments.

With my partner i have noticed that milk plays a big part he also has similar symtoms to stans son e.g dark circle around eyes, white toungue

We are currently doing our exams with a DAN! Doctor just started. As they treat and cure Autism so I am hoping this will work for tourettes. Done e.g urine, stool, hair and delayed allergy exams. A good source of info I have found has been austim sites which then i decompose and relate to tourettes (as there is little info on alternative treatments for tourettes) next is taking out Milk, castenine, wheat and high salicylates e.g fruits orages and vegetables olives out.

Nasal Spray

Also could someone tell me if they have tried the nasal spray promoted on stands site the mb12valtrex nasal spray. I though Gina was a good case to look like at eye movements are very simlar to a person with mild tic with touretts.

Let me know if you have tried the spray and how did you go???

hi

Tourette Syndrome is considered by some to be on what is known as the Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD)

Personally, I am very cautious about anything that claims to be a "cure" for Tourette Syndrome, or for autism.

I am not saying that for some people who have been given these dx and then show a complete remission of symptoms is impossible. Just saying be very careful at anything that claims to be THE cure. As complex as these conditions are, so I believe are there treatments. All part of a larger picture.

Also, this site alone has tons of info on alternative treatments, and our administrator has literally "written the book on it" :)

http://www.latitudes.org/book.html

my son sure is living proof that alternative treatments for TS can vastly improve things, even for someone with genetic TS. But I think we are still a ways off from finding the "cure" for genetic TS...it will come...but I would still urge caution for claims of "cure"

edited to add: I know of quite a number of people who have TS as well as autism or Aspergers, so I know the two can be co-conditions

Hi Sunflower,

We use the MB12 shots for my son (prescribed by our DAN doctor). We were given the choice of spray or shots, and I chose the shots I think because I think I thought it was more effective that way. (I give the shot after he falls asleep at night). I cannot say if it has been directly beneficial for my son's tics, although I believe it is an important part of his treatment, especially since his blood tests had shown a mutation in a gene called MTHFR, which basically means he does not methylate B12 and has to get it in the methylcobalamine form in order for his body to use it. I have corresponded with two other members who have given me feedback on the MB12 shots, and I believe they also did not think that it had any direct effect on tics.

We have been doing this for almost a year now, and he had been doing pretty well about three months into it, and so I did not want to discontinue anything that was in his "mix" of supplements for fear of rocking the boat, however there have been ups and downs, so again, not really sure if this is having a direct effect. Thanks for the link you posted, I may ask to switch to the nasal spray to see if it has more of a beneficial effect. Will keep you posted if I try.

Faith
