janey
Hi all, I found a therapist in my area who does cranial sacral and reiki. I made an appointment with her for my son. I was just wondering if anyone has done this and if so, did you feel that you child benefited from it? She said that it would take at least 3 treatments at half an hour each before I see results. I just want to get some feedback before going. Thank you Jane
Pamela Kay
My old neighbor learned cranial and practiced on us so maybe this is not the best opinion but... My son had it done a couple times. I am not sure if it helped necessarily with the tics/behavior but it sure did relax him. He almost fell asleep on the way home and it was only lunch time! For my husband and I it was relaxing as well but we did not see any specific results. On a side note she did tell me last year after I had it done that she thought I had an issue with my thyroid. I decided to ask my doctor about it just today since I now have symptoms for it. I am getting blood drawn for it tomorrow. I will try to update with the results when I get them. I figured it can't hurt. She's charginig $30 a session, so it's worth a try.
patty
Janey, We have been using CST since the beginning of my son's tics. The first therapist was inexperience, so we stopped after about 10 sessions due to lack of noticeable improvement. I should of stopped sooner, but keep hoping that it helps! Then our chirop, who has been treating my son for the last 8 mos. been using CST as part of the treatment plan, and we have been seeing improvements. Now, i just found an ND who uses CST as a big part of treatment plan treating tics, and she says she sees very good results from it (however, we have not started on the CST with the ND yet). I am interest in CST because it is non-invasive, and from my research it is very beneficial for people who have nervous system issues. A word of caution tho, not all CS therapiest have the same level of skill set and there are variations of CST. So must sure to get someone who has a solid background and who have dealt with tics, otherwise it would just be a waste of time & money. FYI, many CST can get their certification just based on a few days of classes. Pat

Pat Thanks for your input Pat, The woman I found said that she's been doing it for ten years, and deals with children and nervous issues. I'm going at the end of August. I'm hoping it will help him with his nervousness as well as the tics.
