Pamela Kay
Sorry for the momentary melt down. I will keep looking for the right help. Actually the nurse did recommend I go to the local health food store. I did go there and the lady I talked to did seem to be much more knowledgeable and helpful. She offered many more options which I am looking into. She suggested a colon cleanse, more water and enzymes or probiotics. She also suggested that maybe he was constipated which I never really thought about. She said that sometimes all that is needed is body work which I assume she meant CS massage. Now for the constipation I don't really know if he has it. I never asked him and honestly I don't know how often he poops. I did ask him to tell me the next time he goes so I can kind of gage it from there. It has been a whole day now. I am kind of worried about giving him a colon cleanse but have been loading him up on the fruit/juices in the last day. I am hoping that will get things moving along a bit. I did look into that a bit and am now wondering if that is why he wets the bed. We are also going to try the enzymes. I gave her a list of the different vitamins/minerals we are using and she seemed to think that it was good but thought maybe he was not absorbing them correctly. She also said that whole food vitamins are the best which we do not use at this time. She said that when they are not made with whole foods they are not digested as well and much of it gets peed out. As for his neck pain. I think that his initial head jerking tic made his neck sore which lead to the neck stretching tic. Thanks guys for listening. You have all been a great help. Toms_Mom
Pam, We seem to have a lot in common. My son had problems with constipation when he was younger. When I went to see my pediatritian in June he asked how often did he go and I honestly had no idea- I figured that his problem with constipation had been resolved (he used to scream when he was younger because it hurt and so he would hold it and it became a vicious cycle) Anyway my pediatrician said I should pay attention to how much he is going and to look at it once a week to make sure that they are not hard. Well lo and behold I found out we still have a problem. I realized my son was not going everyday -more like every 3 or 4 days. I don't know if it is a problem of being constipated or just his old habit of holding it. I started telling him he could not have his (sweet) snack everyday until he went to the bathroom (he can still have healthy snacks). He is going more often, but it gets to be a pain to keep track of. I started thinking that this could also be contributing to his tics, bedwetting etc. -- I read somewhere that this could be toxic to your body. What exactly is a colon cleanse and is it appropriate for young children? We have been using the whole food vitamins and I do think they are better. Glad to hear you are feeling better!
