my2sons
Has anyone on here gotten a negative reaction from giving powdered form of l -glutamine? Also, my DS's primary tic is a yelling tic, we brought it down to almost non -existent for about 8 months with diet modifications but it went back up at christmas and i cannot seem to get it back down. I am thinking of trying taurine. Any thoughts?
Chemar
My son uses l-glutamine in capsule form so no experience with the powdered form Taurine is very helpful to many ....but others seem to not tolerate it so if you try it, start low dose and go slow to be sure. TeamTyrion
I stay clear of glutamine as it is readily converted to glutamate in the body - something my son does not tolerate due to a glutamate/gaba imbalance. Even if your child doesn't suffer from methylation issues (which prevents toxins from being cleared from the body in a timely fashion), I would imagine that long term use of glutamine would (probably) throw off the glutamate/gaba balance. Too much glutamate triggers the inflammatory process.
