2 more questions :) taurine and evening primrose?

So, I got all my suppliments today from the health food store. I talked to the lady for along time about what I have been taking, what happens, which is vey hard for me. I do not like to admit I have TS. Usually I can hide it pretty well, but am sick of doing that, and figure I gotta start admitting it somewhere, so now is now. Anywyas, The research I did said to take 1000 mg of Evening primrose 3 x per day. I purchased 1300 mg tablets, thinking it would be easier to remember 2 instead of 3 times. Since it equals abou thte same amount per day, is it ok to do this switch? Take 1300 2x, instead of 1000 3x? Or do I need the 3 different times per day?

Also, I got taurine, 500 mg. How much should an adult female, 130 pds, take? The bottle says 1 tab per day, but I didn't know if that is less than recommended for TS. I have looked everywhere I know and can't find a dosing, just the suggestions to take it. I took 1 today, and (maybe I'm crazy) but swear that it has already started helping. About an hour after taking these I thought, 'oh I havne't had any tics for awhile!' So, I hope these help. Also got multi B, b12~ dissolvable, flax and borage, and am adding them to my magnesium, zinc, calcium, and multi. I wanted to start slow and take as little as possible. I do think what I have been doing has helped, but not completly. I'm glad to know that there is this option, only wish I would have discovered it sooner than at 28!!

Hi

I am honestly not sure about the evening primrose oil doseage as usually it is the Omega 3s that are recommended as tic reducers, and evening primrose is primarily gamma linoleic acid, an Omega 6 (it also has omega 9 in it). I have always heard that it should be taken in 1000mg dose, up to 3X daily for women's health

Taurine is usually recommended as 500mg per day, to be taken in conjunction with your magnesium supp

This is what I found. It is at http://www.alive.com/2958a9a2.php?subject_bread_cramb=115 for treatment of TS. Is this not good?

Daily dosages:

Magnesium, 500 mg

Vitamin B complex, 100 mg twice daily or Pyridoxal-5-Phosphate, 50 mg daily

Vitamin B12 sublingual tablet, 100 mcg

Calcium, 1,000 mg

Evening primrose oil, two 500 mg tablets three times daily

Niacin, 1,000 mg

I did this yesterday, minus the niacin, plus taurine. And I did notice a big difference. But, If I don't need so much evening primrose then I'd rather not take it. Maybe I'll try today with just one dose and see what happens.

hi

yes, that sounds like a good plan and especially so if you notice it helping you. Always remember different people have different nutritional and supplemental needs dependent on their own unique body chemistry/metabolism etc

I must say I would personally add an omega 3 like flaxseed oil or a flaxseed/borage oil combo to the evening primrose. It is just a good idea to take balanced EFAs
