beeskneesmommy Posted July 17, 2012 Report Posted July 17, 2012 Cigna has a new test for precert. Wow! Almost there for IVig. Got the green lite and words of "go for it" from all 3 specialists on our team. Almost there. But wait! Cigna has added a new test! OK. Tried to get it. No dice at Labcorp, no dice at Quest. No dice anywhere! Tried to get someone to draw if I get the kit (like Igenex) to let me send it in to the lab that Cigna insists upon using. No dice anywhere. Mean while, Brooks is exhausted because we have spent 2 hours sitting in Labcorp waiting for the answer "no" and the anxiety of this little 5 yr. old is thru the roof, waiting for the blood draw that never came. Turns out we have 1 lab that can do it to pass Cigna's muster. It is in Durham, at the one place in the Raleigh area that is known for their lack of understanding and professional conduct regarding PANDAS. You got it, Duke University! Yay! time to take the hour long ride to our nemesis to get help in treating our little boy for a disorder that they won't acknowledge. What a day. Can't wait for tomorrow.

philamom Posted July 17, 2012 Report Posted July 17, 2012 Thats terrible! Is this a precert test for CVID or PANDAS? Sorry for your day.
beeskneesmommy Posted July 17, 2012 Author Report Posted July 17, 2012 Precert to get IVig for PANDAS. This little extra was just added by Cigna for precert. Too bad the precert process was not started a little earlier...
Nearlydoc Posted July 18, 2012 Report Posted July 18, 2012 Precert to get IVig for PANDAS. This little extra was just added by Cigna for precert. Too bad the precert process was not started a little earlier... We also need to do precert for IVIG thru CIGNA. What all did you have to do? Feel free to send me a pm.
beeskneesmommy Posted July 18, 2012 Author Report Posted July 18, 2012 @NEARLYDOC: Basically, show blood work that suggests immuno concerns, etc. We are doing this thru Dr. Bouboulis. We have a long hx of PANDAS and corresponding elevated ASO and Anti-DNase titers. In addition, we have attempted all other western treatments through abx therapy. Had to get specific blood panels and then the same 2 weeks later. This should have been enough (used to be) but the new test was just added. My son's history is classic and we have 3 "big gun" PANDAS specialists across the country recommending IVig at this point. I can go over the specific tests in a PM w/you at a later date but I am currently dealing with too much right now to take the extra time...kind of in crisis over here at the moment.
