ibcdbwc Posted April 17, 2012 Report Posted April 17, 2012 Just curious. And I can never get my search function to work on this forum. Which probiotic do you use and how often? And did you do testing to determine the appropriate one?
philamom Posted April 17, 2012 Report Posted April 17, 2012 No testing, but we use Florasor, Culturelle, Integrative Probiotic Pearls, and Klaire Labs Ther-Biotic Detox Support. Also use Custom Probiotics at times.
colleendonny Posted April 17, 2012 Report Posted April 17, 2012 We never did testing either to determine which one. Didn't know you could... What do you test for? We use Megaflora 1x per day.
ibcdbwc Posted April 17, 2012 Author Report Posted April 17, 2012 There is a urine/blood test that can look for markers for intestinal yeast, intestinal bacteria overgrowth et cetera. A friend of a friend recommended it to target the probiotic strains for maximal protection. It may also tell you if you need an anti-fungal agent. I was thinking a general broad sort of probiotic would be fine but wasn't sure what others did. I don't know how much the test would be or really if it's as useful as my friend implied. I also wasn't sure what strains/brands people were using for the general- more broad approach-- hence this poll of sorts.

My ds9s pediatrician said that he doesn't have any yeast issues, because his tongue isn't white. We will be meeting with a naturopath soon, to see what she determines to be the issue. Perhaps naturopaths do yeast testing? We have used BioK, the one with soy, but I don't know if that is so great, because it has sugar in it, so wouldn't that just increase the yeast issue? It tastes really good, and is like a yogurt, so it can be consumed easily. I consumed a lot of BioK when I was having intestinal issues a few years back, and it did wonders. Gave it to my son recently while on his last course of abx.
