julia24
Hi, I am new here. I am in my early 30s, and have had TS since I was 9, and have been on TS meds since I was 18. I would say that my case is a "moderate" case. I have one dd, who is very young (too soon to tell if she has TS or not). I had a medicated pregnancy with her, and am trying to have another baby. I would prefer to have an unmedicated pregnancy this time, so I am working with a naturopath and trying natural alternatives. I would also like to be prepared in the event one my children develops TS, as I would prefer not to medicate them, either. My specific question is regarding candida treatment. I started on the treatment program a week ago, using a yeast-killer, probiotics, and a restricted diet. Each day, the TS got worse and worse until it reached a 10 on the 1 to 10 scale, with 10 being my worst day. Is this common during yeast treatment? I kept expecting that if yeast had anything to do with it, that it would get better and better. Am I perhaps not being strict enough in my diet? Thanks! Chemar
Hi Julia and welcome when one begins a candida elimination program, it is expected that things will get worse a bit before they get better. this is because the candida, being a parasite, releases toxins into the body when it dies...this is commonly known as the "die off" reaction. Most people feel nausea and fatigue, headaches etc It is advisable to be taking detoxyfying treatments at this time (hot water with the juice of a squeezed lemon is one of the best, as well as lots of pure water) It is good that you are also on the probiotics. now, the increase in your tics may be from the toxins produced by the yeast die-off (most likely!) OR it could be a specific ingredient in your "yeast killer".....could you let us know which candida eliminating product you are using? good for you for being proactive in preparing for a new baby and for beginning the research into natural treatments to help yourself and your children ps I forgot to mention the phenomenal benefit of having Epsom salts soaks at this time too.....dissolve 2 cups of Epsom Salts in a tub of hot water and soak for as long as you can (drink pure water while soaking) this is an excellent way to speed detox
julia24
I had to laugh--I guess "yeast-killer" is pretty vague. The naturopath gave me Can-Sol. I don't know too much about it. I'm getting very frustrated, though. Tics are worse, plus the yeast spit test was much improved three days after starting, but this weekend, it's back to almost immediate reaction. I've had zero refined sugar or refined flour. Really, I don't know what to eat! I'd been on a 60% fruit & veggie diet before this, 20% carbs, 20% protein. Now, I can have no fruit & no carbs. And apparently I have a sensitivity to dairy, so no dairy, either. And I don't eat red meat. I'm sorry--I don't mean to vent so much. I'm just really hungry all the time and really frustrated. Chemar
yes, I can understand your frustration! especially as you are clearly not getting enough nourishment. I would highly recommend that you try to up your protein intake. I must say that our yeast elimination program as per the "Yeast Syndrome" book by Walker and Trowbridge had a very do-able diet Maybe you can find a good nutritional drink at your health store that will give you the protein and other nutritives as well as not have stuff that you cant eat at present...sort of a health food Boost type thing? Also do try to drink lots of pure, preferably reverse osmosis water (Aquafina is one of the better bottled waters) I have never heard of CanSol so, not knowing what is in it, it is hard to say if maybe there is a tic trigger in one of the ingredients We have used various yeast elimination products as a family, but the new Candida Clear by NOW products has really made a big positive impression on us (and my son is extra happy cos it also cleared up all acne!) I also know many people like ThreeLac, and we keep a bottle of caprylic acid (Capryl by Solaray) for maintenance of a candida free system (all take it once a month for one week)
julia24
Thank you very much for the book recommendation. I just ordered it from Amazon. I didn't realize it, but I looked at the Can-Sol bottle after dinner, and it does have some ingredients on it. It says White Pond Lily, Greasewood, and Purple Loosestrife. The only other thing I know about it is that it was developed by an Amish doctor to treat yeast and he used extracts from plants that were resilient to fungus in the wild. Are you ever able to eat sugar again if you have problems with yeast? Will it always be an issue? I don't mind the no-refined-sugar so much--I could easily have that once a week and be fine. But I am missing fruit like crazy. I don't think I could eliminate fruit long-term. Having a diet plan to follow from the book should be very helpful. Thanks again! kim
Julia, Have you checked in to digestive enzymes. If you're craving or missing fruits, you may want to look at this site, and this product in particular (it's said that sometimes the foods we crave the most, can be the ones causing problems) http://216.114.78.114/webcenter/sites/HNI/...36&N=No%20Fenol No Fenol is also supposed to aid in yeast elimination too. It is said to weaken the outer structure of the yeast, aiding the product that you're using as a killer. This is another really informative site on enzymes. http://www.enzymestuff.com/conditionbacteria.htm#2 also Phenol Information here http://www.danasview.net/phenol.htm Kim

You will be able to eat fruit again!! Once the yeast is under control, you can eat all healthful foods that you are not allergic or sensitive to.(And it really is a good idea to say a permanent goodbye to refined and artificial foods) We use pure Turbinado sugar from Hawaii, and I try to cook everything from scratch, using whole food and organic produce and healthily farmed chicken, beef and lamb, plus fish from reputable sources (I try to shop WholeFoods or FreshMarket as much as possible, and buy only the organic, hormone free etc food when i do go to our local supermarket) Once one establishes a healthy diet, it really isnt all that hard to maintain, and the benefits are soooo worth it! Candida can recur and so that is why we do a monthly spit test and also do our capryl maintenance program Now, re the CanSol..............those are interesting ingredients, and altho good, yet I really dont know what there impact may be on your tics. Remember, anything that stimulates dopamine is likely to increase tics, so it may be worth checking as to whether any of those ingredients directly or indirectly impact the dopaminergic system Are you taking any supplements? It may be a good idea to if not...especially a good multivitamin/mineral rich in B vitamins. Magnesium is important in tic reduction too, as long as you balance it with calcium in a 2Ca:1Mg ratio Omega 3 & 6 essential fatty acids are a plus too, tho maybe dont get the fishoil omega3...rather go with a flaxseed/evening primrose combo if possible (many TS people react to fishoil and that is the last thing you need now! hang in there! the detox isnt fun but you sure will feel so much better once those yeasties have gone! I think you will find the Yeast Syndrome book very helpful!
Guest
Chemar, Did your son's acne get worse before it cleared up after starting Candida Clear by NOW? Would acne get worse during yeast die off? I'm not for sure, but I'm guessing I would be having some yeast die-off after eliminating dairy/gluten/wheat/soy and adding Candida Clear. Chemar
Hi Carolyn...no actually, his acne just cleared! But he was real good at taking LOTS of water to help with the die off toxins and also had his acupuncture/ biofeedback which helped too also, the anti candida diet we followed is a lot different than many I see recommended and I believe we had a more gradual elimination and less die off reaction because of that
