"Brooke Landau, Emmy Award Winning Weathercaster with the CW Network in San Diego will appear on the Dr. Phil Show on Friday, April 13th. Brooke shares her 17 year battle with Lyme Disease. One which some doctors have called the worst documented case in the country. Brooke went to bed fine one day, and woke up paralyzed. She overcame that battle and today she continues to fight and survive. Brooke’s survival story has been featured on the Today Show, Good Morning America, Fox News, ABC, Discovery Health, Mystery ER, CW Network…and now the Dr. Phil Show. Brooke says she continues to speak out for those you can’t.

LLMD, Dr. Chitra Bhakta will also be on the show."

I heard that ISDA doctor will also be on. Hoping there is no misinformation given but I guess both sides will be presented. Does anyone know is this filmed live?

Believe it or not, I don't have DVR, so I think I'm going to pull dd out of school 1/2 hour earlier so I don't miss any of it :-/

Not sure what my excuse will be.... hey, I've got a TV show to watch?

I got home in time to watch the whole Lyme portion of the program.

I thought the segment was too short, and the ISDA guy was a MTHFR, and I don't mean the genetic condition.

It shook me up something good, terribly scary for me, as a person with Lyme who also has a child with Lyme.

Grateful for the national coverage.

Never heard MTHFR used that way, but it actually only took about 1 second for me to figure out what you meant. :P

I'm glad it was a good segment. I didn't get to watch it.

For those who didn't see it, they interviewed a young woman who has severe Lyme Disease, a newscaster who is well now, but was sick for over 10 years, and a producer from Dr. Phil's show, who was also sick for a long time. He let the stone-faced IDSA doc talk for about a minute. And I was really pleased with the fact that they showed such a long clip from "Under Our Skin" and showed/named the documentary very clearly so people can find it (they also included a link to the Under Our Skin website on their website). I think it could really help some people who have undiagnosed Lyme - they or their relatives/friends may recognize similarities and look into Lyme now. They had limited time, but I thought they did a great job!

The show has a discussion forum for this episode on their website, if anyone wants to check it out or comment: http://community.drphil.com/boards/?EntryID=31912

There are already 913 comments - not surprising.

Great coverage for extreme cases. I'm always looking for coverage for the cases that are more hidden by all the things the doctors say you have, people like me who were managing but not really fine at all, you know?

I was also looking forward to hearing all the discussion they didn't have time for. I hope he'll do another segment. It's great to see it getting out there. I hope to see more of that.

Susan, I totally agree! I guess the extreme cases make for better television, but if I saw something like that before I knew I had lyme I would have been relieved and certain that I did not have it. I'm not paralyzed. I don't have seizures. I wish they had taken at least a few seconds to flash a list of some of the most common symptoms.

Then again, I'm glad for the coverage at all. So it's a start.
