blakes_mom Posted March 22, 2012 Report Posted March 22, 2012 Well Fixit I just wanted you to know you are not alone and I agree with you. I feel that leaving tics out is a huge mistake. We are going to miss a lot of kids because of this political maneuver. Of course my son is primarily a ticcer too. He is already diagnosed so I am not worried about him but I know that there are a lot of pandas/pans kids with tics as there primary symptom and they are the ones that will suffer.

dut Posted March 23, 2012 Report Posted March 23, 2012 Hi - the addition of a third set of criteria, in addition to PANDAS and PITANDS, to allow for epidemiological studies, makes sense. My fear, however, is how many doctors will see this as an addition to rather than replacement of the other two sets? Even us fairly aware, deep forum mining parents have been eager to adopt (me included) the new name of PANS hoping it was the great leap forward. There needs to be a decent playing ground without controversy on which to further the research but I worry that drs and others will take these new criteria as the only ones and that, yet again, many children will fall through the cracks.

Fixit Posted March 24, 2012 Report Posted March 24, 2012 (edited) I'm still trying to get past the removal of autoimmune Yah that too.. I know we are all praying together. I constantly tell my friends about the wonderful community this site creates. The knowlege, the quick responses, the support, brain stroming and even the disagreements, that make us think more and become more innovative. If we all thought alike we wouldn't be challenged to think of other things and look outside the box or our box. It's all good....really this place is a God Send!!!! Edited March 24, 2012 by Fixit
