laure Posted February 15, 2012 Report Posted February 15, 2012 I'm looking for detox methods that have worked for others. My daughter is showing a big increase in contamination OCD fears since beginning with tindamax in late October. Prior to that she was functioning at above 90%, and while she is still doing great in some ways, the OCD is at times controlling all of our lives. We currently use renelix and APO-hepat for detox, but she cannot take baths because she believes the tub is contaminated, and her doctor doesn't really like bentonite clay because he believes it interferes with the antibiotics even if we space it apart. She gets lots of exercise, and fluids no problem since it takes so much to get down all the meds... any other ideas out there?
JuliaFaith Posted February 15, 2012 Report Posted February 15, 2012 My son uses 'detox deodorant' at night around his neck and bottom of his feet, along with chlorella & clay in juice.

Suzan Posted February 15, 2012 Report Posted February 15, 2012 What about a sauna? Do you think she'd agree to sweat? http://www.amazon.com/Infrared-Portable-Foldable-Sauna-Detox/sim/B002POAYDW/2 We also like the detox foot spas but those are so gross looking and can be smelly I imagine that would not work for her. Susan Good idea! She definitely will spend as long as possible in the sauna after swimming in our local college pool. Definitely does not mind sweating! Thanks!
mama2alex Posted February 16, 2012 Report Posted February 16, 2012 We use Burbur from Nutramedix. Also, lemon water is supposed to help the liver detox. We also use homeopathic drops, TD Glutathione and a combo of charcoal and clay in a capsule.
LNN Posted February 16, 2012 Report Posted February 16, 2012 We use milk thistle for liver and just starting using resveratrol - pretty impressed so far. Reduced symptoms noticeably. We also rely on NSAIDs for inflammation. Tindamax is rough. If you need a break from the OCD, consider extending the time between tindamax pulses. Instead of every weekend, maybe every other weekend, or instead of 6 doses on a weekend, maybe only do 2 or 4. For the sake of the whole family, there needs to be balance between aggressive treatment and quality of life.
laure Posted February 16, 2012 Author Report Posted February 16, 2012 I have Burbur and Milk Thistle in my cabinet...just hadn't gotten around to figuring out what they were supposed to help with yet...sometimes overwhelmed with information here! She is on daily tindamax now, when it was just weekends it wasn't so bad, but really ramped up when she moved to everyday. I wish I understood this OCD stuff, but I do believe it is related to brain inflammation in her case, because it can swing wildly from horrible to non-existent, or non-existent to horrible in a matter of a few days. For example, one day none of us can touch the cabinet handle for the trash can, the next it's ok as long as she isn't looking, and the third day she doesn't care at all. Or vice versa. Usually when she is trending better or worse, it lasts for several weeks or months. What would cause this?
philamom Posted February 16, 2012 Report Posted February 16, 2012 laure- Dr. Corson mentions, Apo-Hepat at times is not well tolerated - too provoking. (Bio Resource 2012 Conference)

My daughter had lots of stomach upst with antibiotics and organic Tumeric which I just put into a gelcap helped a lot. The doctor said it helps with inflammation. Now that my daughter is off the antibiotics she is taking Welchol and 1 to 6 tablets a day with Nordic Naturals Pro-DHA & Pro-EFA 1000mg 2x per day and Alpha Limpoic Acid 100mg 1 x per day. We are supposed to be up to 6 tablets of Welchol but she is having such good results after 1 tablet per day for a month we might not increase the dosage. The Welchol is supposed to decrease toxins in her body from die-off and Mold.

I wonder if I should just throw some of this stuff at her, or should I be more methodical? Are there any drawbacks? Yesterday I successfully snuck a couple of drops of Burbur in her milk on two occasions...no obvious change yet, but I know we need to go much higher.
mama2alex Posted February 17, 2012 Report Posted February 17, 2012 My DS takes 15 drops of Burbur 2 - 5 times a day, depending on how he's doing. The LLMD said he has patients who take it every 15 minutes when they are really suffering. DS is 11 1/2, 75 lbs. I think there are restrictions/interactions with the Milk Thistle, but we've never used it, so I don't know what they are.
LNN Posted February 18, 2012 Report Posted February 18, 2012 As I understand it, there are two issues to be aware of with milk thistle. First, because MT changes the way the liver metabolizes certain medications, you need to check for drug interactions (here's a brief list http://www.umm.edu/altmed/articles/milk-thistle-000266.htm). Second, because MT comes from the ragweed fsmily, you need to be cautious if there's a ragweed allergy. However, my DD, who's allergic to ragweed, andrographis, oregano and resveratrol, along with penicillins and cephalosporins, can take MT without any issues. So go figure. I started taking it with my son about a year ago and felt much better within a week. Lighter somehow. If I stop taking it for more than a few days, I can feel the difference. I also like resveratrol for similar reasons. Seems to help with inflammation issues too.
laure Posted February 18, 2012 Author Report Posted February 18, 2012 For anyone here, did detox help with OCD? That is my daughter's only symptom, but it can be pretty debilitating.
