I don't have the money or time to deal with my Lyme right now . Was on dozy for 3 months and felt good but now I'm off and I need something over the counter for fluish symptoms I have and brain fog. I did a "search" for ideas but found nothing. any suggestions and thank you.

Is there anything you feel you can do in the mean time for yourself? It is scary to me to just stop after you know what is causing you trouble. My LLMD said to treat myself before treating my kids so I would be up for taking care of them. That was heartbreaking and scary. Your child may be too sick for you to do that but if there is anything you can do on your own maybe?

Buhners Herbs, homeopathy? I don't know. But I don't know of anyting that will help the brain fog or other symptoms other than trying to kill the bacteria and detoxing.

HUGS!

Before my dh started his treatment (last week) he was taking chlorella and salmon oil to start detoxing. We are hoping this will speed up his recovery time. Have found 2 great sources at good prices if you are interested just PM. It seems detoxing can help with the flu-like symptoms as well. Another idea may be drinking rock rose tea (cistus incantus) to start to break down biofilm so when you can start abx again they will be able to go to the source quickly.

My older son really liked Gaia Ginkgo Leaf for brain fog.

Someone else on this forum mentioned speaking to your doctor and seeing if you can make payments and just communicating with those involved to see if anything can be worked out which I thought was at least a try.

Sending strength and wellness your way!

i was on doxy for 3 months. are people on this even longer than 3 months sometimes?

I was on doxy for about 6 months but also on zithromax and flagyl. All in all I took antibiotics for 1 1/2 years. I am a lot better but still not cured. I am trying nautrals now. I am sorry to have to tell you that. I think unless you catch it early, that is typically the norm. I've probably had lyme since I was a child.

I was on Doxy for 16 months but also on Tindamax and Rifampin. Have been off abx completely now for a few weeks. So far I'm feeling great but have completely changed my diet (high protein, lots of fruits and veggies high in antioxidants, no simple carbs or dairy, all organic) and am still taking supplements. I did lots of detoxing. So far, no back sliding. At the onset my Dr. said I would be on abx for at least a year.

I can't say this absolutely for sure, but my sense of things is that doxy alone is not going to get someone well if they have had lyme disease for a while. I don't think that's a typical successful protocol. Doxy is supposedly very helpful for someone who just got a tick bite and is hoping to prevent getting serious lyme disease, but once you have that condition, it's a whole different situation. Who experienced is your doctore at treating lyme disease?

I was actually test and diagnosed from a PANDAS doctor in Conneticut. He started me on the Doxy and told me to find another doctor (specializing in Lyme) I then found this infectious disease doctor who said she believes in long term abx. but after my visit, she said that she would not prescribe Doxy again since I have been on it for 3 months. She is doing tons of blood work, because she said I must have something else going on, since the Lyme should be gone after the length of my treatment. Ugh!!! I am not sure if I should now see someone who will put me back on Doxy or someone who will try something else. I am thinking of going to a chiropractor, but the one I know of is going to push lots of vitamins and stuff. I don't know if I can keep up with it. I have a very sick child and an even sicker husband. Not too much time for me, ya know? I just need to figure out who to go to....

The lymenet.org message board might be able to help. They have a "seeking a doctor" section, and a larger audience where they might be able to suggest someone, and also give experiences regarding Dr. F who you have asked about as if you are considering him. The doctor you have been going to simply is not an educated lyme doctor (most who go by the category "infectious disease doctor" are not, so no surprise there, the surprise is he gave you 3 months worth of abx before inappropriately concluding it can't be lyme).
