Requesting Prayers

Well, we're getting an in depth work-up on Monday. Contrast brain MRI, focus on the basal ganglia + slices through the sinuses. And while she is under (she requires full sedation) they'll do a spinal tap to test for NMDAreceptor encephalitis, biopsy the sores on her head that do not heal, and my pediatrician tells me all kinds of blood tests. We've been through a lot of med testing in the past, but for some reason I'm particularly nervous about this. I'm so afraid they'll find something and so afraid they won't! Anyway, please send some prayers up for us if you get a chance.

Thank you all for your prayers. Her ped and I want the sores (head injury from banging?) biopsied because we're wondering if the banging comes from "something" in/under the skin or if the banging is just causing the sores and preventing healing. So...she's off abx in preparation for that (if there is something there, we want the stuff growing!). Anyway, her migraine's went away with clindamycin, but now w/ no abx they are coming back and she's having a very tough time. I just don't know how we're going to get her into that hospital to get the imaging done. She feels so lousy. I feel lousy too. What kind of a mommy withholds treatment that will make her child feel better so that doctors can collect evidence? I know this ultimately may bear some important fruit, but it sure is hard watching your child suffer in the interim. I'm also going to have to nix the ibuprofen the night before because one of the things being checked is basal ganglia inflammation.

oh, can she take something like imitrex for migraines? (maybe not enough time to try, if the tests are Monday)

Sending good thoughts to you and your dd!

I've used it the last few days as migraine rescue, but she has been on naproxen/ibuprofen when the migraine's hit. I'll bring some to the hospital for after. We have very limited supplies of imitrex nasal spray. I think I can dope her up on valium the morning of (again, feeling like a bad mommy) so at least she will respond less aggressively to the pain.

Sending lots of prayer your way. You are a very good mother making really hard decisions. This might help you feel better, the medicine they use to put her under may help her migraine (at least for that day). I had surgery for my foot and had to be put out, this helped my horrible, nauseating migraine go away. Anaesthesiologist said that the meds work wonderfully for migraines. Here's hoping it works for you.
