peglem Posted January 18, 2012 Report Posted January 18, 2012 It just seems to me that anytime you are looking for evidence of disease through IgG testing- there would be no way to tell if the results are measuring donor antibodies or self made antibodies shortly after IVIG.
Tamistwins Posted January 18, 2012 Report Posted January 18, 2012 (edited) My children had ivig and at that time they weren't doing so well so Dr. B had them draw blood to test aso and antidnase b. we also tested for mycoplasma something that has been an issue for him and tested Lyme again. In the past he never came back pos even with igenex although he has been treating with dr. Jones for bartonella. (sorry for typos im on phone) so aso and anti DNase b came back. Very elevated and mycoplasma came back greater than 5.00 highest score u can get. Dr. B said sometimes can get false pos after ivig. Hmmm why did u run the test then???? Anyway Lyme finally came back pos 1.0 and a bunch of odd tic borne things. So what does this mean that it's a false positive even though I know something must be there that we aren't seeing on bloodwork? Edited January 18, 2012 by Tamistwins
BluYorkie Posted January 19, 2012 Report Posted January 19, 2012 Hi BluYorkie. Welcome to the forum and thanks for the heads up. I would still recommend tucking this info away because there are so many unknowns. I am looking forward to hearing more about you and your family. I imagine you have an affected family member that caused you to lurk and now join . Do you have a PANDAS child? Thanks... yes I hav
P_Mom Posted January 19, 2012 Author Report Posted January 19, 2012 Peg....I agree. I don't believe there is any way to tell the difference. BluYorkie....looks like something happened to your post. It happens.....I placed a quadruple post the other day! Anyway......maybe you just got busy but it looks like you were about to share your story. Looking forward to it! (and by the way...you got the quote thing down already! Something I have not been able to figure out yet....and I have been on here since 2007! Not a very good testament for the "smart", "highly intelligent" PANDAS parent phenotype! )

Well, those test results, sounds like you're saying they were run just after ivig, might or might not be false positives, I don't imagine there's any way to know, so I don't imagine they really mean much, other than there were antibodies floating around in the blood at that point in time, from whatever source (self-made or ivig).
PhillyPA Posted January 19, 2012 Report Posted January 19, 2012 I think that the safest thing to do is to collect blood before ivig or wait three months after ivig. To me it is common sense. I don't care if this is just a letter about one person. If it happened to one person it can happen to another. I think that any neurologist/research scientist will tell you that ivig can complicate ALL testing. Welcome aboard BluYorkie...
