beeskneesmommy Posted December 23, 2011 Report Posted December 23, 2011 I have not visited nor posted in quite a while. Here is an update to give you hope for the holidays. My son, now 5, started a new abx protocol with Dr. B last July. He did very well for a long time. Interestingly, he had a dip during November, but recovered well. We drew labs at the time and found that his Strep titers, previously having returned to normal for many months, had risen significantly. Although he was not infected, he must have been exposed for a little while, presumably at preschool. He rode thru it like a champ and since the start of December has been 100%, really better than the approx. 90% that he was exhibiting during the months prior to November. It has been a long and difficult roller coaster ride which I assume is far from over. However, after being an incredibly sick kid for half of his life, my son is healthy, happy and just learned to ride his bike without training wheels last night. Dr. B feels that we are successfully suppressing the gene(s) that cause the autoimmune response. From my family to yours: keep hope, keep faith, continue to dig deeper and know that we travel this road with you as we continue the journey with our son. May the new year 2012 bring wonderful gifts for us all. Kath

beeskneesmommy Posted December 24, 2011 Author Report Posted December 24, 2011 Thanks friends! Last Christmas was so stressful and frightening with such a sick kiddo. This year I am afraid that we went totally overboard, I suspect in compensation. Santa is bringing some serious loot tonight - My son is well enough to relax and enjoy it this year. We all know how these situations can change on a dime so I am trying to relish every minute. Merry Christmas and happy holidays!
