dcmom Posted November 17, 2011 Report Posted November 17, 2011 I am not in "angst", but I am extremely concerned for new parents on this board. All I ask is that we call things what they are- that doesn't imply judgement. Unproven does not mean ineffective or harmful, it just means, well, unproven and unstudied by "mainstream docs". To be honest, I have a problem when mainstream methods are touted as a "cure" also. We just haven't seen this, don't KNOW it to be true, and probably will not have any clue until the next generation. I say this often when certain doctors tout IVIG as the only cure to pandas. It is not honest, and unfair to new parents trying to make decisions.
sptcmom Posted November 17, 2011 Report Posted November 17, 2011 I too agree that saying eneregy medicine is a cure is bad taste. I think saying there is a cure is nothing short of absolute denial. if there was a cure there wouldnt be sick children with this disease period. There are very good bandaids but no cure. I just wanted to find out more about Klinghardt using it as a bandaid. Never would I say its a cure. If you think there is a cure, you should go to counseling and come to grips that there isnt one at the moment. I find your past and present posts to be instigatory one or two liners. I don't know what you hope to achieve by that but its a sad and pathetic attempt at getting attention. The content of your posts, the quality of the language you use is very much lacking in maturity, in mutual respect and very closed minded. I have personal knowledge of several people who have been cured- biophoton therapy, NLP, NET, NMT etc. So many stories of children with even the worst kind of cancers, AIDS, Lyme etc being cured based on Holistic protocols alone, including the recent GcMAF. I actually believe in a combo approach. But what I have said is in MY experience and research I have read about cures only with energy medicine. No stories of cures with conventional. I am still pursuing a middle approach because thats what I believe in currently. AGAIN, just MY personal experience. Like it or leave it. Dosent matter to me.keep in mind there are SEVERAL countries ravaged with Lyme not just us here in the US of A. There are several stories on Lymenet europe and on forums across the world of cures, chakras getting aligned, acupuncture meridians and channels being open again, Kundalini awakening and the body learning to heal itself with alternative medicine. Infact right HERE in New Jersey, maybe you should attend more lyme group meetings and stay aware- since you're on the Lyme forum and many people with lyme also have Pandas- because there are TWO recent stories of a cure. One of them is the producer of the sequel to Under Our Skin. Its a shame you choose to be so close minded. She will cover it in the sequel which will be aired in the Spring ILADS gala in NYC, atleast the trailer will be. They are still shooting the footage. Its truly tragic you actually believe you're stuck with band aids. But keep in mind thats YOUR belief and yours alone as far as I am concerned. Most parents on these forums are amazing people who continue to look high and low for a cure. Ofcourse one needs to do whatever one can to stay functional and so do I but giving up hope is extremely sad. I feel bad for you. New parents are looking for reality but also hope. Once again please read- its plain English- this is MY personal experience.Like it or leave it. Doesnt matter to me at all.

GraceUnderPressure Posted November 18, 2011 Report Posted November 18, 2011 (edited) Then there are those who look for a cure and take the only road that can lead to a cure- bioenergetic methodology. Its a road more and more travelled as chronic degenerative disease is fast becoming such a global epidemic. I am puzzled that you cannot see why your comment - this sentence in particular - has left people feeling offended and defensive. Perhaps if you switched around your use of mainstream & alternative med references you might be able to see this from the eyes of others - esp since most of us (a) don't know you and ( b ) have no clue why you would expect us to forego our own judgment and embrace yours instead? I am still pursuing a middle approach because thats what I believe in currently. " Given the attitude expressed above, I find this even more puzzling. You just finished talking about the mainstream approach as inadequate and touting the alternatives as THE CURE for those with the wit to recognize it as such - and now you say that you prefer both? Why aren't you just going for THE CURE? I am hoping that all this is a misunderstanding and you are just having difficulty expressing what you actually mean... Why aren't you just going for THE CURE? I am hoping that all this is a misunderstanding and you are just having difficulty expressing what you actually mean... Unfortunately I don't have a personal triumph or a cure to report.Still researching, learning and trying.I AM going for "THE CURE" believe you me. My research is what I will rely on for my family and those who understand my methodology. You're entitled to misunderstand, misinterpret whatever. Its ok with me. Nothing new. Its just information from my side of things. If you're that interested or "offended" you can search for my previous posts. I am having NO difficulty in expressing my personal experience. It is you who is having difficulty accepting what millions, even billions of people in other countries already know and have tried for their chronic illnesses. Its just info, take it any way you like. YES, its all about one's interpretation of the word cure. Cure is NOT remission to ME and I refuse to rest till I can get beyond that.Remissions can last years and parents get comfortable. I have several young adults in my practice going through the nightmare of Lyme returning in full force after some stressful event in college which is heard to begin with with all the changes/emotions. These kids have been off abx for two even five years and they are a mess seeking relief from alternative medicine. Two of them are Ivy league students and children of famous physicians. Its very sad but the good in it is even very conventional physicians are atleast keeping an open mind and trying alternative approaches in addition to the abx which clearly did help in the past. But how long will one do abx? 10 years? 20? What will happen to the internal organs of our children when they're older? Lyme and co are in my family for Three generation that we know. I have LOST FOUR of my five brothers, my twin included to these diseases. I have them all myself as does my son and I gave them to my husband. I don't really pay any mind to any vicious comments anyone has to say about my experiences and opinions. I believe they are very valuable to people who understand where Im coming from. I write for those parents who will relate to my story and my approach. Its worth it to listen/ignore nasty comments and disbelief from some of you for those few who do understand. Dr J is VERY comfortable in his own skin. He knows there have been NO long term studies on the thousands of children he has helped. There are spurts of research coming in from all over the world little by little. Dr Jones is a beyond brilliant physician, a devoted doctor, a devout faith oriented person and simply a wonderful human being I know on a personal and professional level. He amazes me everyday. He is my mentor and I love him dearly I respect him, he has saved my son's life and I will always feel this way. I seriously wouldn't waste time reading something what you don't understand. Instead of trying to force a more informed parent to admit she's an idiot why don't you use that energy to actually keep an open mind and research whats being said. We should be leaving no stone unturned, listening to every bizaare story out there to see our child can maybe resonate along the same path and NOT bite each others head off. Speaking of small pockets of longitudinal research here is an interesting study I found yesterday eurheart%20journal_estudio%20amigdalas.pdf Bottomline and my final words on this- a combination conventional (abx) plus alternative approach is whats working for me right now. IVIG failed for us and screwed up the PANDAS autoimmunity even more, PEX wasnt considered, steroids failed for us and after two years of use made things far far worse for my child. I'm still researching and am still uncertain if its worth it going fully alternative. In my research , MY personal research only , I found that the only stories that people have shared of any sort of a cure are with alternative approaches that address the whole person, take care of intracellular biochemical and physiological changes, re educate the immune system rather than kill kill kill the microbes kind of an approach. Every child is different and will react differntly to any approach. There is no right or wrong.Thats it.
Bill Posted November 19, 2011 Report Posted November 19, 2011 "I seriously wouldn't waste time reading something what you don't understand." "One needs a basic understanding of Quantum physics and the human nervous system physiology to understand most energy medicine concepts. There are lay term DVDs available but like I said, unless you are ready to believe you won't." I admit, I am seriously lost in this conversation. I went back to the beginning and reread the OP thread and subsequent posts. It seems to me that a question was asked because the OP wants to explore and try some of the stuff that Klinghardt proposes. It was then suggested that the OP was secretly trying to start an argument. Maybe or maybe not. I've read up on Klinghardt and did not find anything that made me want to try anything he was promoting. Does anyone have anything to make me want to reconsider? No specific information was provided throughout the conversation. And the quotes above have me upset especially since this is not the first time they've been put out there. Who is anyone on this board to suggest that the rest of us are incapable of understanding something? One needs a basic understanding of Quantum physics and human nervous system physiology to understand, wouldn't waste time reading something (what) you don't understand - please. I think the statement "...unless you are ready to believe you won't." is the best summary. So because we are all too dumb to understand, we should accept it as faith. Would that be religious faith or faith in magic? My wife prays for our son. Neither of us believes in magic. Is all hope lost for my son? And while I'm on this rant, you can't say that because there have been no long term follow up of Dr. Jones' patients that none are cured just like I can't say they were. There is something fundamentally out of whack autoimmune or otherwise. That is really all any of us know. Reinfection is just as likely as a remission coming to an end. Long term ABX must be bad (everyone says so anyway), does anyone know what the impact of long term herb usage is? And all these "cured" people coming out of Europe or the far east....please please please, share some of the information. Everyone on this board seems to have a very open mind trying all sorts of approaches, holistic and conventional. This is exactly the right place to question what we are reading and hearing. Back to the OP's question. "Most therapies that they use dont have clinical trials which prove their efficacy and is anyone on this forum really cured using them??" I did not find any evidence. I only found "testimonies." I found plenty of QuackWatch alerts. Perhaps someday I will get smarter with age and be able to grasp the science behind ART.
Sheila Posted November 19, 2011 Report Posted November 19, 2011 Hi there, I am going to close this topic because the point is simply that every family has to make their own decisions. The general position of ACN is that outcome of conventional treatments are often improved by adding appropriate non-conventional or integrative approaches. The best conventional approach for PANDAS or Lyme related type conditions is not yet clear nor can it be generalized. And integrative approaches--diet, supplements, environmental changes, body work etc, fall under a huge umbrella; some help a certain case and some don't. Each family approaches their problem in a different way, with varying financial, geographical, and stress-related issues or limitations, and different educational and cultural backgrounds. Plus, a child's underlying condition is individually specific and often complex. We can't know for sure how any one will respond to certain therapies. People are coming to this forum with different mindsets. As a simple example, some parents don't believe in taking junk food away from their child to reduce tics because it might make them feel different from their friends. They think people should just accept the the tics and move on. Others have seen improvement with diet changes and they turn their kitchen inside out and educate others on how their child should eat. Still others put their child on a medication with known toxic side effects and think that's the best answer. It's not for us to judge or lecture these families. Some forum members will follow exactly what their doctor prescribes, and others will question, research, and pave their own way. Let's embrace our differences, and be supportive and kind, even when we question something. At the heart of it all, everyone here is desperately striving to find answers to heal themselves or a loved one, and they are reaching out for help. Sheila
