Momto2
My daughter currently takes the Natural Calm magnesium and I think it does take the edge off of her tics. So, we are very happy with this product. However, it isn't always the most convenient to take. Does anyone know if there is a pill or capsule form of magnesium that would provide the same benefits as the Natural Calm powder? Thanks. Chemar
Hi The ionic mag citrate in Natural Calm is great because it works quickly, but it is not the only effective form As long as it is not magnesium oxide, which is very very poorly absorbed, any magnesium supplement can be helpful.....of course check the "other ingredients" in it to be sure it is not filled with junk If your child can tolerate taurine, taking magnesium taurate can have double benefit as both the mag and the taurine have tic redicing properties also remember the benefits of magnesium sulfate (epsom salts) baths for transdermal mag intake

I actually bought some taurine a few weeks ago, but haven't given it to my daughter yet. If she does tolerate it, would giving it to her along with a mag. supplement be the same as taking magnesium taurate?
Chemar
Hi giving mag and taurine separately is not exactly the same as giving chelated mag taurate, but yes, both elements still work toward tic reduction The magnesium does not have to be citrate to work effectively.... here is some good info on the various types http://neurotalk.psychcentral.com/post9729-4.html
