mommaonamission Posted November 26, 2005 Report Posted November 26, 2005 I have been asking myself this for the last month after my son, who has always had extremely mild tics (nervouse habits we called them,) exploded with full force vocal tics including coprolallia at times recently. He is at the right age...12, he is in middle school (lots of pressure), and I have concluded that it was triggered by PANDAS. My question is though....how? I know it isn't always genetic, but absolutley no one in my family has a history of Tourettes. Even though all of the symptoms point to it being trigger by PANDAS, he had very few strep infections as a child. It just seems so strange. My mother called me with an interesting fact that she read, although I have not had a chance to research it myself. She had read about studies linking Mercury to Tourettes. Is anyone on here familiar with this? See, I have a less common blood type (A-RH-factor.) I don't know much about it, but I know that before I had my son, I had to have a shot due to my blood type so that it would be more compatible with his. This shot contained Mercury. Has anyelse ever heard of this? Also, on an off note, does pizza trigger most of your/your childrens tics? I have so much to learn... Thanks!
Chemar Posted November 27, 2005 Report Posted November 27, 2005 Dear mom yes, the mercury link is well known here and has been extensively discussed. if you do a forum search for mercury you will find lots of info if you havent yet ordered it, i really would highly recommend Sheila's book as in addition to so much else, it also has some info re mercury In the case of mercury induced tics and even certain PANDAS conditions, the Tourette Syndrome " label" may well be inaccurate, although in some cases, where the genetic disposition is there, these conditions can be responsible for the TS manifestation BTW, I also had to have the shot for the rhesus factor. When we began the testing for my son he tested very high for mercury, which was probably mainly residual from in utero...thanks to my mercury dental fillings and those shots.............and then of course they pumped some more into him with the childhood vaccinations we found Chlorella ( a herb) to be VERY beneficial in reducing mercury in our whole family, and it doesnt have quite the drastic effects that some of the more intense treatments like chealtion etc can bring
kim Posted November 27, 2005 Report Posted November 27, 2005 Mom, You might want to check out this link http://www.independent-media.tv/item.cfm?f...nder%20Reported Just have something on hand for stomach upset! I largely ignored this connection when I started looking for alternative ways to improve tics for my 2 sons but eventually, I started to READ these articles that I kept coming across, and it got pretty hard to ignore. mommaonamission Posted November 28, 2005 Author Report Posted November 28, 2005 Thanks allot Chemar and Kim. I will look into Sheila's book and check out the website. It's so crazy when you consider what all contributes to these Neurological disorders. It's enough to make someone want to go live on a farm and seclude themselves from all of the "modern" ways of life. I am so thankful for others that share their knowledge. You all have obviously done your part, your kids are lucky. Thanks again.
Guest Posted November 28, 2005 Report Posted November 28, 2005 If you live on a farm then you have the risk of pesticide poisoning. I grew up on a farm. When I was little I played outside quite a bit and the planes sprayed crops that were right by my house. I often played when they were spraying pesticides which was just the country road's width away from me. They drop the toilet paper to mark where they stop spraying and often I remember them dropping it in our yard and wondering why there was toilet paper was in our yard. There's also the well water which tastes the greatest, but can have heavy metals in it. I don't live on a farm anymore, but I love the farm. Carolyn
Andy Posted December 16, 2005 Report Posted December 16, 2005 My son got sick right after a vaccination shot and has never been the same again. We have been treating him now for 5 years. This last year we started chealtion with once a month IV's and eight times a week supposortories. This included epsolm salt baths as well as a restricted diet, probiotic treatment and supplements with gluthione cream treatments. Our son has made tremendous progress but I would not recommend chealtion unless a high amount of heavy metals is detected in the body.
