cobbiemommy Posted August 1, 2011 Report Posted August 1, 2011 We are having our home tested for mold. We fixed the roof line, drywall, insulation, sheeting, and next the carpet, but I feel like we should have the whole place tested, cleaned, etc. I think this is the thing that is keeping us from getting to the next level of health. How many are using or have used Welchol or cholestyramine? What were your results? I currently take simvastatin for bad HDL and was wondering if it works the same way? Our appt is on the 16th, so I would like to have all my questions in order when he has his checkup! Cobbie
Familyof5 Posted August 2, 2011 Report Posted August 2, 2011 I take cholestyramine and find that it is very tolerable. I had initial gastro issues, but I overcame them within a couple of weeks. I believe that I never would have gotten better without it. Taking the cholestyramine allowed my body to keep the toxins moving out so that repair and healing could occur. Cholestyramine allowed me to function again (although I did not see major improvements in my family's health until we moved into a "clean" home). It has allowed my children to continue to go to school and improved their health to the point where they once again lead a somewhat normal life. We continue to take it for preventative measures. As far as testing goes, I recommend the do it yourself ERMI test. If you haven't already, check your heating system...especially if you have forced hot air/duct work. It is one of the most efficient delivery sytems of bioaerosals/mycotoxins/etc. It could be drawing in moldy air from basement and blowing throughout your home.
MichaelTampa Posted August 2, 2011 Report Posted August 2, 2011 I have also used cholestyramine and tolerated it well and it helped some, I don't know that I would say it has helped enormously. Chlorella can also be helpful for that. I tried Welchol briefly, and it did not go as well. Welchol is filled with crap (sugars, fake sugars, chemical flavors, colors, ...) and I believe is under patent so unavailable compounded. Cholestyramine can be obtained compounded to avoid the crap.
JuliaFaith Posted August 2, 2011 Report Posted August 2, 2011 My son is using Chlorella (20 tabs with 3 salmon oil) before each meal instead of the cholestyramine. It may be because his stomach is still not back to normal and he is seeing an ND. Found an inexpensive/good chlorella if you are interested. Checked out good with dr. testing and about 1/3 the cost of others he has taken.
justinekno Posted August 3, 2011 Report Posted August 3, 2011 Has anyone found a good chlorella that does not come from Japan and therefore does not have the radiation issue? I was really feeling a difference while taking chlorella but I stopped it when it was mentioned on another board about the potential for radiation. MichaelTampa Posted August 3, 2011 Report Posted August 3, 2011 I use BioPure, the company that makes some of the things Dr. Klinghardt requests. They get theirs from Japan but said they had a good pre-disaster supply, like a year or two. I think a number of places probably had some supply like that. It is times like this where energy testing if a particular brand is really good for you (or which one is best for you), and things like having a company you really trust, can be important.

Both of these tested well (at the time): Sun Chlorella A tabs - Super Supplements had it Chlorella Manna - HealthForce.com
