bgirl Posted August 20, 2005 Report Posted August 20, 2005 Hi forum. I have never posted before. My son, who has mild TS, ADHD, Spd,..., was taking Tenex. I didn't like it, but was desperate for emotional outbursts to end. It helped, at first, I guess. Then he, well, lost his "happy". He bacame grouchy all the time, less joy. We actually lost the meds while on vacation, and immediately noticed our boy back. I notified the Dr. and let him know I was not going back right now. I have enjoyed having my happy child back. Others even noticed. We are learning anger coping skills, that is helping SO much. But what now. Where do I start with keeping his tics very mild. He has "mild TS", but with the facial tics he was having, I wondered how he even watched TV. Most tics are very mild, unless there is a lot of stress around. I just don't know what foods to give him. I am not into junk. We don't eat chip, etc. very often. His sensory issues make feeding him an all day thing sometimes. And if he doesn't eat right, we all suffer. Any help welcome. bgirl
kim Posted August 20, 2005 Report Posted August 20, 2005 bgirl, There are so many threads here with so much information. Just read as much as you can. If you look for Claire's post ( just click on her name and it will give you an " all messages by this poster" option) I'm sure you will find those and many others very useful . I think I just saw one of her threads titled Getting Started, not too far back on the topic page, if you don't see it, go to the numbers at the bottom left and click on the 2,3, etc. to search the back pages. Also, if you go back to the topic page, Chemar has a thread called Treatments that have helped my son. I too used a prescription medication, clonidine for my two sons. As you indicated, we saw a little improvement in the beginning, but it was pretty short lived. I am grateful to have found this board and hope you find as much help here as I have. Kim
bgirl Posted August 20, 2005 Author Report Posted August 20, 2005 Thanks so much. I have read a lot on the forum, and it is so great to know others are living the same things as I. And the more natural treatments are what i am looking forward to trying. bgirl
Chemar Posted August 22, 2005 Report Posted August 22, 2005 All the best to you bgirl My son is living proof that there is life after meds and that it is, for him, a far better life!
