Wilma Jenks Posted May 31, 2011 Report Posted May 31, 2011 My child has complained of achy ankles since she could talk. Now she said there is a shooting pain going up the heel of her foot into her calf. I took her to specialists years ago and they found nothing. Her ankles do look like they roll in though. It is pretty obvious. I wonder if this pain could also be related to Bartonella. I think I read somewhere about someone else haveing pain in feet w/ Bartonella. Any comments are welcome. Thanks
momcap Posted May 31, 2011 Report Posted May 31, 2011 I had terrible, stabbing pain periodically in one foot or the other when I was a kid. I will never forget it. I occassionally get foot cramps now, but that's a very different feeling. It was agony, and I remember punching my foot and biting it (I was a lot more flexible then). But nothing helped. I also had ankle pains as a teen, and I gave up sports, focusing on other interests, mostly because of my ankles. I don't know at what point I got lyme, but looking back I think all of these things are very interesting clues. I'm CDC and IgeneX positive for lyme. Didn't test for co-infections (yet).
aidansmom Posted May 31, 2011 Report Posted May 31, 2011 I believe it can be a symptom of Lyme and also Bartonella.

It is quite typical for these pains to crop up during treatment. I had them and they are now gone. Its easy to think it is a structural problem but in my experience I bet its bartonella.
momaine Posted May 31, 2011 Report Posted May 31, 2011 Lyme and Bartonella can cause heel and ankle pain. Those were two of my worst symptoms. I am being treated for both and my heel pain is probably reduced at least 50% less than 8 weeks into treatment and my ankle pain is mostly gone. The other lyme symptoms I was able to explain away but now that I am being treated, I realize what it feels like to feel normal again and I now just know that I didn't realize just how sick I was because it creeps up on you.
lss Posted June 1, 2011 Report Posted June 1, 2011 Heel pain was one of my first symptoms-started off on the left foot, the doctors told me it was a bone spur-then it moved to the right foot in the heel and just recently has moved up to the ankle. Some days I don't have any pain at all, other days are really bad.
