kferricks Posted May 4, 2011 Report Posted May 4, 2011 Told me they were calling on behalf of the CDC. They had a copy of the Igenex tests and anytime someone tests positive for it they collect the information because they want to know what the symptoms are and where it was contracted. I'm very nervous and worried. I did not tell them who would be treating her, but they said they knew who ordered the tests. They also wanted a description of her symptoms.

Was your child diagnosed with Babesia? Babesiosis is now a nationally reportable disease in 2011. All states must report it. You will also no longer be able to give blood (thank goodness) if positive. We are positive for lyme by Igenex standards. Never received a call from the CDC though. We get our next set of labs done shortly.
kferricks Posted May 4, 2011 Author Report Posted May 4, 2011 I have not seen the LLMD yet. All I know for sure is that she has Erch. I don't know what all the results mean. I posted them a little bit ago hoping to get some insight.
ptcgirl Posted May 4, 2011 Report Posted May 4, 2011 I was contacted by our public health department because my daughter tested positive for babesia. They just wanted to find out out if it was a true positive (in their opinion). They asked me about symptoms and her reaction to treatment. They agreed that she does have babesia from the info they collected. I hope that the CDC starts tracking some of these cases since it is not currently found in our state (according to them). It would really help if tbi had some funding for research.
pixiesmommy Posted May 4, 2011 Report Posted May 4, 2011 Not yet, but I wouldn't be shocked. The school reported it to the health dept and the dr was called
