Bartonella is typically the bacteria that causes neuropsych symptoms. I know heel pain is also associated with Bartonella. And I've also read that Bartonella is more difficult to eradicate. Erhilrichia is easier. Not sure about the others. I'll look around and see if I can't find a list somewhere.
momaine Posted April 19, 2011 Report Posted April 19, 2011 http://www.truthaboutlymedisease.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=313 A lot of the symptoms over lap but if you scroll down on this page, you can see the symptoms listed out.

momaine Posted April 19, 2011 Report Posted April 19, 2011 That is why a good LLMD is needed, to help sort it out. It's pretty complicated. I do believe that Doxy treats both B.b and Bartonella though. I have read that Bartonella responds quickly to antibiotics and quickly worsens once they are stopped if it isn't eradicated.
sf_mom Posted April 19, 2011 Report Posted April 19, 2011 (edited) Good list! I agree with Momaine a good LLMD will help you figure it all out. Very specific symptoms will help with clinical diagnoses if needed. Some specific to Babesia would be air hunger, deep thigh bone pain, dizziness and little red freckles called petechial rash. You can see an image at Dr. Jones website under Babesia rash http://www.drjoneskids.com/. The predominate Bartonella symptoms would be shin or foot pain, anxiety, panic attacks, OCD, rage, stabbing headaches, rashes of all kinds especially stretch mark rash.... although on the symptom list attached by Momaine the 'rage behavior' is listed under Babesia too. Both can have an unproductive dry cough. These symptoms listed were based on discussion with our LLMD. I have negative test results for Babesia but have the deep thigh bone pain, dizziness 'falling over dizzy spells prior to diagnoses and told it was an inner ear infection', petechial rash. I got more of the petchials and deep thigh bone pain when they provoked for Babesia. I am being treated for Babesia currently and all the specific symptoms got much worse. Hope that helps. pathfinder Posted April 19, 2011 Author Report Posted April 19, 2011 (edited) Thank you lyme people I really am mad now. My ds had many of Bartonella symptoms on earlier onset of pandas at age 7-8 but after many testings, doctors told me to ignore them as ADHD kids tend to have a lot of irreverent somatic complains. He was gasping for air, shooting pain on his shin ( dr said growing pain) , sole pain ( I used to massage every night), and rashes all over his body ( for last 9 years almost every day of his life) I was right pursuing lyme and co after all. ( my 2 MD sisters discouraged Lyme testing all along too) I have some more questions. Does agumentin help lyme/bartonella? My son had high ASO titer/high Mycoplama and pandas treatment (IVIG+agumentin 8months) helped him tremendously is lyme anyway connected to yeast? --does treating lyme/co helpful to treating yeast?--does lyme/co raise eosinophil count? We are aiming for 100% Thank you all PS SF mom My son was tested for Bartonella and the result was positive as per Quest. I just did not have the paper in front of me so I called dr's office and confirmed it. Edited April 19, 2011 by pathfinder
sf_mom Posted April 19, 2011 Report Posted April 19, 2011 That is good news about the Bartonella. I figured he had tested based on others experience.

I just did not have the paper in front of me so I called dr's office and confirmed it. Dr j prescribed my dd Minocin for Bartonella, BUT, she was already on Augmentin and Zith and he added that in. ALSO, when only diagnosed with PANDAS, whenever she tried to go off Augmentin, she would have a huge relapse in OCD, so I know its connected. I'll go to a LLMD for me tomorrow. can't wait.
adkmom Posted April 19, 2011 Report Posted April 19, 2011 (edited) Dr. J. prescribed Bactrim for my ds4 for Bartonella. So sorry, it's taken so long for you to find an answer, of some sort. Terrible! Unfortunately, it doesn't seem that uncommon. Bartonella is hard to pick up. Probably no consolation, but at least you've got the positive test and can pursue the proper treatment! We're retesting ds4 through another lab but symptoms all point to that and he's definite positive for Lyme. Also, treated for Pandas. As the others mentioned, Dr. J said Bartonella is very hard to get rid of and it's predominant neuropsych symptoms. So when treatment has taken care of other symptoms (joint pain, ect) and the behaviorial, cognitive stuff remains, he looks for Bartonella. And our guy has LOTS of ADHD and aggression (bursts). PS - What state are you in? Edited April 19, 2011 by adkmom

Augmentin treats Lyme, not sure about bartonella. Rifampin is used for bartonella too. My son had Lyme and Bart and is well now-2 plus years of treatment later. Calf cramps are also a sign of Bart. At least u have answers now and a correct diagnosis. That's half the battle.
