Yay Wilma!

You will wait in the office 30 min to 1 hour. Then when you see him it will take 30 - 45 min. He is interrupted a lot, but always comes back to you. He is very kind, gentle, sweet. Your kids will like him, but he also will mostly talk with you, examine them for 5 minutes or so. He will look at all tests, and order new ones. He will give you scripts. If you can, bring along your husband/mom/friend to help, because there is a lot of info very quickly, and you will want notes. The Doubletree has rates of $89 if you are his patient, so call Stella and they will get you the code for that rate. We also usually fill scripts at the drugstore in the plaza nearby, and start them right away. We often see a reaction by the time we get home (5 hours). If you are going to the Darien office, there is a great deli across the street...something to look forward to anyway! We take our daughter shopping at Old Navy nearby after visits. She gets a new outfit (or sometimes 3!) Yes, it is an expensive day!

Good luck, I know you will come away with some guidance!

Possibly see if he would allow you to tape your session. It's so hard to remember it all even with having another set of ears.

Dr. B is great. He is mostly interested in your child's lab work, if you don't have any he will order lots of it. I handed him my crazy mom notebook with copies of ds medical history (lots of lab work). We sat in his office while he reviewed the notebook and asked us questions about the info and made notes. He is not a ped so don't expect a physical exam. I traveled out of state to see him looking for a treatment plan - antibiotics and IVIG. My son is classic pandas with high titers and I have the lab tests to prove it - no brainer. My son is older and he was not getting better - only worse - and we needed action. I had done my homework and he was on my insurance plan - hooray!!!!!!

make sure you have all your questions written down, too. It's so easy to forget. And it stinks having to go back and ask after the appointment. It always takes much longer to get answers when you are not there. If you don't understand something he says, or test results he's reviewing, don't be afraid to ask him to explain it. He's very smart and knows his stuff, but sometimes talks a language that's very foreign (at least to me). But if I ask him to explain, he's very willing and patient.

Wilma, I know you and your daughter have been going through a lot for a very long time (probably an understatement). I wish you the best.

Good luck tomorrow.

Kara

He is a very nice man and he WILL listen to you. He will also ask a bunch of questions so he gets all the info he can., I am so thrilled to here that you are going! I find it best to write down all behaviors that I can think of, and then I write a list of everything that I want to mention or ask. (I literally read off the questions to him lol) Good luck and prayers are comming your way for the both of you.

I am seeing Dr. B. on Monday. What can I expect on my first visti. How long is it? Does he look closely at our medical records? What is he demeanor??? Any advice is welcome??? Thanks so much...

can someone tell me dr b's name and info?

I ended up going down the dr. K path but want to consult with b possibly. It sounds like he is very thorough with testing and may be covered by more insurance cos.

Thank you!

Hi HT's Mom.

See the pinned thread (near the top of the page) "Abbreviations and Acronyms". :)
