Surprised that I could not find even a SINGLE DT VACCINE manufacturer that has mercury free DT vaccines. Most of the other vaccines (even MMR, DTP, Hepatatis etc) are mercury free BUT EVEN NOW DT and Flu vaccines seem to have mercury . So, that adds to my confusion. I have just mailed my son;s pediatrician regarding mercury free DT vaccines for my son. yet to receive his reply,

WOULD APPRECIATE YOUR HELP IF YOU CAN GIVE ME THE NAME OF THE BRAND WHICH CONTAINS MERCURY FREE DT VACCINE.

Hi efgh

cant help you on brands here......that really would be something your doctor should have info on.

what I am puzzled by is......when my son had these vaccines years ago....the Diptheria, and tetanus were given with the polio vaccine as DTP. How come your son is only scheduled for DT and not DTP?? especially as you mention that the DTP is thimerisol free. Has he already had the full course of polio boosters?

Chemer,

I believe the "P" in DPT is Pertussis. I was confused by the OPV/IPV, then I realized the I was "injection" and the O is "oral". Jeez was it that long ago? I don't remember if they had Polio oral or not.

I'm trying to find the table in the link you posted yesterday, I was sure it listed a DPT that was mercury free. I have been looking since I typed that one line  can't find the darn table. Last night I was looking at youngest vaccine schedule. He received the Hep B the day he was born, and 8 vaccines by the time he was 4 1/2 months. MMr was given at just a little over 1 year, he quit eating shortly after that.

Aha, yes you are right Kim...the DTP is diptheria, tetanus and pertussis (whooping cough) which was given together, and the polio vaccine was given separately. see how rusty my memory has become with having kids who are now 18 & 15 yo

My doctor responded to my email. He said that there are no mercury free DT vaccination in the market yet. But he had a suggestion - He said as an alternative , he can vaccinate my child with the DT-Polio combination vaccine which is totally mercury free. Even though he is not due for the polio , the side effect of the additional polio is zero , he says. So, Is my child getting the EXTRA POLIO VACCINE to avoid the mercury ???????????????? - I think its a wise suggestion from my doctor. what do you guys feel about this??

efgh,

I'm confused too. Why just DT? I found a DTaP; Infanrix- GlaxoSmithKline and Daptacel-Aventis Pasteur on the link that Chemar posted. It says no mercury, however it does list some preservatives. If you follow that link to the first page and click vaccines on the right and then on the small word within the text I think it says vaccine safety? It will lead you to this. It does talk about the DT vaccine and one has a trace amount if given in single dose, it will contain the higher amount if it's a multi dose vial. Does your Dr. give Pertussis separately?

You are right that many companies come out with mercury free DTP. My son is due for DT only and not DTP(petrussis). As per the vaccination schedule at age 11, kids should get a DT vaccination. There is no DT vaccination which is mercury free and hence my doctor suggests DT-polio which comes as a combination but is mercury free.

hope its clear now.

Efgh,

OH NO. I don't think my 12 year old has had a DT, it hasn't been mentioned to me. I wonder if he could have had it at 10. I really don't want to deal with THAT right now. I will get on finding his immun. card. Thanks for that information.

Did you decide to do the DT/polio?
