Our doctor uses LabCorp as a good reference lab. I would not be afraid of their testing. They are a CLIA lab, so they do good work.

Thanks, yes, I trust labcorp, we use them a lot too. I was just wondering, since this test is new, if it's accurate, you know, like the percentage that it finds these if the person has them. Maybe it's 100%, I'm just curious. My dd had this test done and they were all negative. I now think it was a herx or she had some other virus not on this test.

Seems like a good test for our kids. There were other panels too but I don't have that info.

I've never heard of this before and am very interested to learn more. Is this a test you already did and these are the results? How was the test done? How can they isolate what infections are specifically in the respiratory system? Who suggested this - your Lyme doctor? My ds has had pneumonia 6 times and no one ever suggested a respiratory infection panel. Please share more details when you have a chance. Thanks!

Our Dan! doc recommended this for dd9 who could not kick her cough and stuffy nose, didn't feel well for over a week.... He said it was a DNA test that is new. I finally found this link that shows more information about all of their panels. The left column shows what is in the panel and the right column shows what the lab results look like. Ours were negative all the way down. The test was a nasal and throat swab and it took 2 days to get the results.

Our Dan! said it's new and the insurances companies are spotty on what they will cover. The test is something like $400 or $500. My insurance company paid for 80%. For our negative result, maybe a waste of money? But if the test is accurate, at least I know she is not harboring any of these infections!

  • 1 year later...

I realize this post is 2 yrs old, but was wondering if you or anyone has ordered this test. Our new insurance only allows labcorp for in network labs. We have always used Quest before.

Or, is there any other recommended viral panels from labcorp?

thx

Hi! Thank goodness for email notification since I haven't been online for a while. We did get this test at the time but ours was 100% negative. I'm not sure what value it could add, probably a lot if you found something there. My dd continues to have trouble with strep throat (had it 6 times last year and is on daily zith again) and she still is battling bartonella and probably lyme. But the strep didn't show up on this panel for us at the time we took it.

Thanks Susan for taking the time to get back to me. Sorry to hear about the strep - arrggh. Are you still using the desert homoepathic protocol as well? My daughter can't tolerate zith anymore since we stopped it Sept 2011 for elevated liver functions. We tried a couple times to add it back with no success. Since dd's positive lyme culture in Dec 2011, she is only on Amox 100mg daily. I doubt it is even doing much for killing the lyme, and worse, building up resistance. sigh.

I'll probably just run a few viral tests. Thx

Yes we are still doing deseret homeopathic protocol and I really like it. I think it helps us a lot. DD11 did the lyme series for several months and is now doing Bartonella treatment. I stopped the lyme protocol for myself but realized I still need it. I am about to buy a rife machine so maybe I can be the resident rife expert after give it a try. :D

I am out of money and can't do too much more with professional help so I'm looking for anything that can help us that we can do on our own. I hope to stick with our current lyme doc as long as I can while dd11 needs the zith.

I tried homeopathic strep remedy for her but it was too powerful. I hope to try it again after she gets more stable. Have you thought about trying it for her?

Last spring I saw a practitioner for myself (accepted insurance- whoa), who spoke highly of the product. But never made it back to her. I seem only to be able to address my daughter's condition in the summer, when we are not dealing with the school system. She reacts so much to products, exc. that it always inteferes with getting her to school. We are in another ongoing battle with our school district. We are now trying a mainstay program. I really should have done much more last summer - much regret.

Take care Susan!!

Please do keep us updated. The results will be interesting to a lot of folks I would imagine. Glad that Deseret is still working for you. Have you tried A-Bart and A-L (for lyme), and did they work for you? Thanks.

I will keep you posted! I will make my purchase after I get my tax refund back. I have not tried a-bart or A-l. Do you need a doctor's prescription for those? I there was one other homeopathic treatment I planned to try at Michael's recommendation but I need to look up what that was. Timing was not right yet but it might be now.
