kthomas Posted January 28, 2011 Report Posted January 28, 2011 My six year old son was just dx with Tic Disorder this week. Dr. wouldn't prescribe antibiotics and referred him to a neurologist. Could have to wait two weeks for office visit. Does anyone know of a doctor in the South Texas, San Antonio area that is familiar with PANDAS treatment.
texascatholic Posted January 28, 2011 Report Posted January 28, 2011 Yes, we've had 2 IVIGs so far through Dr. Infante(an immunologist at Christus Santa Rosa downtown). However, he usually requires positive Cunningham results and or a prior PANDAS diagnosis to treat. We went to Dr. Rao in Plano, TX to get the diagnosis first. Hope this helps! Holly
EmersonAilidh Posted January 28, 2011 Report Posted January 28, 2011 Dr. Rao also tests for immunodeficiency. Haven't seen him YET but I've never heard a negative thing.

Holly Holly, how have things been going since the ivig? Seeing improvements?
texascatholic Posted January 29, 2011 Report Posted January 29, 2011 Yes, we've seen improvements! However, tonight is not good. She was exposed to strep and is having some weird tics. Oh well! But overall, progress.

DebC Posted January 29, 2011 Report Posted January 29, 2011 Where do you get a Cunningham's test done? Dr. Cunningham is currently researching PANDAS as the University of Oklahoma and has developed a test that can help determine PANDAS. kthomas Posted March 20, 2011 Author Report Posted March 20, 2011 It has been a long road since asking for and getting help form the forum. Thank you to all of you. Dr. Infante's information was invaluable. The appointment was last week and he was fantastic. Thank you to all who sent the information. After reading about the Cunningham test I emailed her and asked for the test. It took a couple of weeks to get a response, but both she and her lab assistant have been very helpful. They sent the test out to me FedEx with all the instructions. The hard part was finding a lab that would help. We ended up getting the lab work done in the hospital after Dr. Infante's appointment. My son is doing better, his tic and behavior problems are subsiding substantially. Waiting for results.

chodnett Posted March 21, 2011 Report Posted March 21, 2011 I am so glad you found help. Do not listen to the doubting doctors they are leaving their heads in the mud while they should be treating there patients with knowledge instead of trying to bury the evidence that is here.
