sf_mom Posted January 26, 2011 Report Posted January 26, 2011 (edited) This week we have another round of appointments with our LLMD: Twins, DS1, Myself, etc. I always pick up new information at our appointments so I thought I'd share what I've learned. Our older son's regimen was changed up at our last Dr. visit. We added Olive Leaf Extract 1,800 m.g. per day to treat potential viruses and herbs for Bartonella once things settled we were to add an additional antibiotic (we did have a good 10 day herx from OLE/Herb combo). On Jan. 2nd we added Cedax (antibiotic) and within 48 hours our son's mood liability stopped and has yet to return. I asked the Dr. about this specifically and why we've seen such a huge improvement so quickly. He responded that Azithro will cross the BB only small amount and will only kill the spirochetes when it is active... The Cedax absolutely crosses the BB and kills the spirochetes in no matter what form (yes, there are spirochetes in the brain). At this time we also saw a huge increase frequent urination and or Dr. felt this was due to increase die-off from both brain/bladder and reminded me how Lyme loves the bladder. Our younger son's heart murmur went from a 4 to a 2 so a huge celebration on our part. Dr. also confirmed that the spirochetes does love certain parts of the body and for younger DS its the heart. Remember he suffered from Kawasaki's at 5 1/2 months old and had aneurysm's at that time. Since then he has developed a heart murmur. Our son has already been to the cardiologist 4/5 times in his three years of life. Dr. feels it will completely resolve. He does believe all of our children have Bartonella/Babesia/Lyme although only one is positive for Lyme and only one is positive for Babesia/Bartonella. We are retesting my daughter for babesia because he believes the positive results will be drawn out. We are doing another round of testing, viruses, CBC and subclasses. We have been tracking IgG tests results over time and prior to Lyme diagnoses. The twins IgG 1 & 3s were dropping so it will be interesting to see if those numbers are turning around yet. Two more appointments to go so I may update more by Friday. -Wendy Edited January 26, 2011 by SF Mom
smartyjones Posted January 26, 2011 Report Posted January 26, 2011 I always pick up new information at our appointments so I thought I'd share what I've learned. -Wendy Love it -- thank you!! What had traditional drs said about that heart murmur -- that he'd always have it?
sf_mom Posted January 26, 2011 Author Report Posted January 26, 2011 (edited) We saw the cardiologist last when we were thinking it was PANDAS for him as well. Said her expertise were 'only' with heart related issues not associated PANDAS symptoms and felt he would outgrow the problem. I assumed that meant.... the symptom 'heart murmur' is a none issue until its an acute problem. Geez... Now, I know better. Edited January 26, 2011 by SF Mom
sptcmom Posted January 26, 2011 Report Posted January 26, 2011 Thanks for the update Wendy. We're learning with you. All information is good information when it comes to Lyme. Ds's LLMD appt was last week but mine is this week- I hope. New Jersey's been crazy with these weekly snow storms. Lets see what happens. I've cancelled so many appts. I thought I would post a update after both. It looks like you are finding more answers with each visit and Im very happy for you.
cobbiemommy Posted January 26, 2011 Report Posted January 26, 2011 Thanks for the info, Wendy. Always look forward to your information. Cobbie
philamom Posted January 26, 2011 Report Posted January 26, 2011 Wendy- I really appreciate the updates! Interesting about the heart murmer. When my daughter had her first notable onset of symptoms in 2007, she was diagnosed with a heart mumer. Within 3 months it became a musical systolic heart murmer. Every doctor remarked how loud it was. I always brought up the correlation with the behavioral symptoms, but was told it was a coincidence.
NancyD Posted January 26, 2011 Report Posted January 26, 2011 Great update, Wendy. So glad you are seeing such progress. Very interesting about abx crossing BBB. Keep the updates coming. We're all learning from you! Nancy
