Johnsmom Posted January 26, 2011 Report Posted January 26, 2011 I am using cats claw to provoke Lyme as prescribed by our Dan doctor. The protocol is to start slow with one drop per day and then work up to 10 drops twice a day. I started yesterday. The nurse told me that sometimes 1 drop is all it takes to see adverse reactions. Today about 24 hours after the first drop ds started to look fatigued. He only ate half his dinner and then laid with his head on my lap while watching tv. A few minutes before that I had given him his 2nd dose (2 drops) of cats claw. He went to bed with no book or desert and looked pale and almost listless. Now there are a lot of bugs going around here and to muddy the waters even more my dh has had a bug since last wednesday with lots of fatigue and loss of appetite. So why am I writing this? I don't know! Does anyone have experience with using cats claw? Can you see adverse reactions 24 hours later? The nurse @ docs office says she knows of someone who took cc and they felt like they had been hit by a truck. She says this person has Lyme. Really? Thanks Johnsmom
KeithandElizabeth Posted January 26, 2011 Report Posted January 26, 2011 Out of all the antibiotics, drugs, herbs, etc... Samento (cat's claw) caused the most severe herx reaction in our son. Perhaps, you can stay at 2 drops for a few days before ramping up to 3 drops. On the positive side, our LLMD told another mom that if he was stranded on an island and could only take one thing with him to treat his lyme, it would be Samento. Elizabeth
Johnsmom Posted January 26, 2011 Author Report Posted January 26, 2011 So what herxing did you see? I'm Leary because my dh is sick and the chiropractor says there is a bug going around with these same symptoms so ds could just be suffering from that. Who knows. Thanks
KeithandElizabeth Posted January 26, 2011 Report Posted January 26, 2011 Herxing for my son means an increase in neuro/psych issues (PANDAS issues). Our son also responds with an increase in symptoms when he is exposed to other illnesses. So, figuring out whether he is responding to the Samento or to an illness may take a few more days.
Fixit Posted January 26, 2011 Report Posted January 26, 2011 Elizabeth...where did you get samento from....online or your doc... my appt isn't till next week and i want to keep the ball rolling.... should i just wait to see doc b... we started 2nd parasite clenase 9 days ago...thinking of adding samento friday or sat..based on reaction in this thread Has anyone tried NONI http://curezone.com/forums/fm.asp?i=1041387 ds does have a thyroid condition and pandas(autoimmune too...so) and also in the thread from michealt...mentions noni.... it seems like i'm a half a step ahead maybe this is the path...picked up noni 2 weeks ago..havent' started it yet for ds...i tried 1 or 2 days...i think on those days i felt better...didin't write it down... i already have 3 journals for my 3 boys... should i add NONI or Samento first
MichaelTampa Posted January 26, 2011 Report Posted January 26, 2011 I've taken cat's claw and didn't see much from it. But I had a lot of other treatment before that, so less of a reaction would be expected. Fatigue is a common result of killing some bugs. A lot of other things can happen, including increased whatever symmptoms, but fatigue is very common.
momofgirls Posted January 26, 2011 Report Posted January 26, 2011 Samento knocked my socks off! I felt more of a herx from it than I did from doxy. Our lyme doctor feels it is very potent and said we could inch up to 15 drops twice a day. If you can build up to the prescribed dose and get past the herx, the benefits may be great.
MichaelTampa Posted January 26, 2011 Report Posted January 26, 2011 I am guessing the Samento people are referring to is the NutraMedix herbal extract product? NutraMedix makes many, I have heard their Banderol, Lakato, and Houttuynia are also good ones. I have used these, I never tested for using them for very long. Maybe they are so powerful, with other things I'm taking, they are doing the job that they can do for me pretty quickly. I do think they are powerful. I'm currently taking Lakato and EZOV. The EZOV I think is more for emotional/sleeping support, and I take it at bedtime. Normally just one drop for me! Fixit, the noni, I don't remember commenting on it before. But, I have taken it here and there, back when someone thought my problem was (just) bad yeast/fungus overgrowth. It was a little helpful for a while, but no big whoop for me. I still test it periodically to see if it would help me, and the answer has always been no. I do think I have seen it included in some herbal formulas. I'm picking up some of the Byron White formulas tomorrow, and I think their lyme formula (they also have a bartonella and babesia formula) has some noni in it. It is a good overall health-tonic type of thing, but I don't know how special it is for lyme, unless mixed with other items.
Fixit Posted January 26, 2011 Report Posted January 26, 2011 Hi Michael.. I was referring to the thread you had started with a transcript from doc kling... he mentions samento and noni...i have seen it around other places.... But thanks for the posting your experiences.... Not trying to hang you out again...but do you have an update on your recovery... are you 75% or better since the start of your jouney.... and how long ago did you start?.. about a year right?...but how long on the lymes thing and how much from the start of that protocal..... and again...i know no one knows...but based on your trajectory(sp)...do you or your doc think another year.... i would suppose healing slows after awhile...once you off load the bulk of toxins in your system ... just banter...thanks...
KeithandElizabeth Posted January 27, 2011 Report Posted January 27, 2011 Our LLMD gives us the herbs and he often switches the herbs around. I know that Dr. B (MO) is now using Samento as well so you can get it from him at your appointment. Yes, we have used Noni quite a bit during the last 11 months. Our LLMD feels that Noni is especially good for mycoplasma. We have also used Quina and Artemisinin for babesia. These herbs are very POTENT so I would strongly recommend going slowly when introducing a new herb to the mix. Elizabeth
Johnsmom Posted January 27, 2011 Author Report Posted January 27, 2011 Fcefxr I was told to give cats claw to see if we had any reactions and if and when we did to stop and then do igenex test. But from what ive read about cc and the comments made it is obviously used to treat Lyme as well. Not sure what is going on so far with ds. I kept him home from school today (1st day so far this year) because of his fatigue last night and he did sleep like a rock but was energetic all day. I gave two drops of cc again and nothing happened until the end of the day when he laid his head on my lap again and when it was time for bed he announced he was going upstairs. He usually stalls when it's time for bed. Again there is a bug that dh has had for a week now and he has major fatigue. I stayed home today with ds and felt very tired all day. Even took a nap. Now it's been an hour since bedtime and ds has come downstairs twice. Ugh!
