Blame

I have read over the years on how parents have blamed themselves or a grandparent or each other on our children's issues. I for one do not believe that TS or tic syndrome is from the gene pool or caused by any emotional distress from home life or during pregancy. My wife blamed herself for years for she was in college during part of her pregancy when she was carrying our first child. She thought it was the stress of her studies. I tried to reassure her that a whole generation of children were born during World War II and their were no big outbreaks of Autisum, TS etc from mothers to be whose husbands were fighting or who were in air raid shelters. So stress can not be the cause. As for genes, where was the Autisum before, the TS before. Yes I have heard of stories of a grandparent, an uncle but never beyond that. I have heard people state that depression has always ran in the family, but never Autisum or TS. It seems to have been a new entry into our families that does not go back very far. I firmly believe and research by others around the western world are finding the same conclusion that our children's issues were environmentally induced and most likely by the people that we are taught to trust the most, the standard medical field. So please before anyone wastes unproductive energy fighting with a loved one of crying in blame, go on the internet and investigate what is out there. Treatments do work. Immus, the disc jockey, has had two weeks of talk on this very subject for even the rich and powerful have had their children polluted and are pushing for the research that is developing the treatments in place now.

Hi Andy

I strongly support your view that environmental factors and things like mercury in vaccines etc are very likely responsible for many of the neurological conditions in the world today.

As far as the genetic link with Tourette Syndrome tho....it IS a real thing, not necessarily in every case, but certainly in a large majority.

We have it manifesting so far thru four generations ...great grandpa--grandpa----father--- son.

Interesting tho that my eldest has no tics at all....same genetic line. Guess he just didnt get the gene as dominant, but he way well carry it as a recessive.

I was wandering about this. I am the only person in my line that has tourette's syndrome. Well, I am going as far back as my great grandparents and none of them had it. My father, myself, and my brother all have OCD. I have tourette's and neither of them do though.. The thing is, I also have many more allergies than them. I always get sick the same month of the year and had many food allergies as a kid. I also have another question that I haven't heard anything about. I realized that my tourette's were always on growing periods. When I was 6. When I was around 12 starting puberty. Then returned again at the age of 14 when I had a huge growth spurt. I also realized that since I have been lifting weights consistently, my tics have been worse. Could tourettes have anything to do with increased testosterone. It is just a thought since I have read that tourettes often gets milder as you get into your 20's. Isn't this around the time that you start producing less testosterone. This message may be a bit choppy but I have a lot of ideas. Thanks

Well of course I do not know of anything for certain but lets us suppose that TS may have been induced by mercury and over time that mercury was absorded by the bodies tissues then it would make sense that any chemical change within the body could release traces of the mercury back into the blood stream and henceforth an increasement of tics.

Yes, it is believed that there well may be a link between testosterone and TS. It is well known that the onset of puberty seems to coincide with the periods of most intense ticcing and that the TS often becomes milder once the "hormonal" years are past.

Also, the incidence of TS is MUCH higher in males than females.

no clear answers....but lots of interesting theories

There seems to be an infinite number of causes that can affect TS. The good thing about it though is you have a lot of options to work with to help yourself.
