Lab tests?

I'm waiting for Igenex test results on myself. I recently had some labs done through Quest which showed some abnormalities. They are:

 

TSH, 3rd Generation: .04 Low (Ref Range is 40-4.50)

WBC: Low

RBC: Low

Absolute Neutrophils: Low

Vitamin D, 25 OH Total: Low

 

Myco P (IGG): 4.08 High

MCH: High

FSH: 122 High (Postmenopausal Range is 23-116)

 

My doctor wants to run some additional Thyroid tests. Besides the Igenex WB, is there any other tests I could run that might indicate Lyme?

C 6 Elisa lyme blood test -- Google it, it is well respected.

Well your lab results are not perfect. I also have mycoplasma but it is being taken care of with Lyme protocol.

 

I would recommend testing your binding immune complexes, cd57 and a viral panel to rule out additional issues and understand the entire picture.

 

If your Lyme results are positive via Igenex there is always additional confirmatory testing 'as you know' and I would definitely look for co-infections.

Is cd57 the name of the test for binding immune complexes? I plan on having it done thru Lab Corp. I did order the co-infection panel with Igenex along with the WB (should receive results next week). I will ask my doctor for the viral panel and I think I'll request Iron/Ferritin levels. I also remember reading somewhere that one of the cholesterol levels seems to be elevated in people who have lyme? So, I'll run that too. Thanks!

CD57 is a labcorp test (not available through quest). I don't think I have ever heard it described as testing binding immune complexes, not that I know what that is. The LabCorp code for it is HNK1, and I have heard of it described as looking for a certain type of "natural killer" cells, which is where the NK comes from in the HNK1. It is believed that very few infections can depress the CD57 levels (some say borrelia only, some say also myco-p and/or HIV, ...).

Binding immune complexes have several different names for testing... might be sub categories: We did the 'complete' binding immune complexes with the kids. Our LLMD does C3d and C4d binding immune complexes.

We had C3D scores w/ Dr. B a while back. DD's=29 and DS's=36. Normal range is 0-8. From what I remember Dr. B said it meant something auto immune was going on. Does anyone else have more info on those scores? How it could relate to Lyme?

So the immune complexes bind to the foreign invader..... in the case of Lyme, its a 'bacteria'. It is the their job 'immune complexes' to carry off the invader so the immune system can kill/handle the invader. When present you have to ask 'what are the immune complexes binding to' to cause them to be elevated. The BB can be so bound up in these complexes often causing a false negative result for antibody testing of Lyme. In these cases, other confirmatory testing can be done.

 

I do know a little girl who's complexes have been over 100 and she still had positive Lyme results.
